Scenes can be discriminated automatically and optimum prints corresponding to the scenes can be obtained. A face of person is detected from an inputted image and it is determined whether or not a person is on the scene of the inputted image. If it is determined that a person is not on the scene of the inputted image, then it is determined that the inputted image is a landscape image. If it is determined that a person is on the scene of the inputted image, then the face area is calculated and the number of people is counted. If the face area is more than a predetermined ratio of the screen and the number of people is not less than a predetermined number of people, then it is determined that the inputted image is a snapshot of people image. If the face area is more than the predetermined ratio of the screen and the number of people is less than the predetermined number of people, then it is determined that the inputted image is a portrait image.

In an information management system, a patient operates a button of an identification number issuing apparatus installed in the reception area in a hospital and receives a ticket from a ticket slot. The ticket has the patient's identification number printed thereon. Having received the ticket, the patient moves to a photograph booth, operates an identification number input panel to input the identification number printed on the ticket, and takes a photograph of the patient's upper body. The patient receives a photograph/bar code sheet ejected from the photograph booth. Four pairs including photographs and bar codes, which are vertically arranged so as to be associated with each other, are printed on the photograph/bar code sheet. Photographic apparatus

A heat-sensitive transcription printer system is made up of a heat-sensitive transcription ink sheet cassette and a heat-sensitive transcription printing device on which said heat-sensitive transcription ink sheet cassette is loaded. On the heat-sensitive transcription ink sheet cassette is bonded an IC label having an IC memory a power receiving/supplying coil and a diode connected to the IC memory and a signal communication coil for performing communication of signals between the IC memory and the heat-sensitive transcription printing device. The inherent discrimination information is previously recorded on the heat-sensitive transcription ink sheet cassette and can be read out from it electrically. In this heat-sensitive transcription printing device the driving power is supplied from a power supply unit through a power supply coil power receiving/supplying coil and the diode to the IC memory A system controller reads out the discrimination information and the using hysteresis information from the IC memory through the signal communication coils to control the printing operation.

A printing paper for thermal transfer printing comprising a substrate, and a dye acceptor layer formed on one surface of the substrate to accept a sublimable dye transferred from a dye carrier ribbon in contact with the dye acceptor layer upon selective heating of the dye carrier ribbon. The dye acceptor layer has a cumulative pore volume of 0.2 to 0.6 cm.sup.3 /g and contains a pigment in the form of particles whose median particle diameter of from 0.2 to 2 .mu.m. In particular, the dye acceptor layer is made of a coating of a resinous binder uniformly dispersing a pigment therein, the coating being impregnated with a resin having good affinity for the sublimable dye.
