A locking device ( ) is placed on an upper surface of housing ( ) of connector ( ) in a temporary retained state. The locking device ( ) has a pair of beams ( ) extending downward obliquely to each other and having notches ( ) in surfaces facing each other. The notches have shoulders which engage against a wedge-shaped rib ( ) of the housing ( ); the shape of the notches ( ) corresponds to the shape of the rib ( ). Therefore, the locking device ( ) cannot be inserted in the housing even by force. When mating connector ( ) is coupled with connector ( ), rib ( ) spreads the beams ( ) releasing the engagement between the notches ( ) and the rib ( ), thus making it possible to insert the locking device ( ) to a fully-engaged position.

Electrical connector

The present invention provides a waterproof electrical connector assembly which is molded in two separate processes. Pluralities of respective projections 42, 48 protrude from surfaces 45, 46 of an inner housing 44 which has contacts 20, 30 so that a contact assembly 40 is formed. Contact assembly 40 is placed in a mold and positioned so that the tip ends of the projections 42, 48 substantially engage inside surfaces of the mold; afterward, an outer housing is molded to a thickness which is substantially the same as the height of the projections 42, 48.

Electrical connector assembly and method for manufacturing the same

A short-circuit connector 2 having short-circuit contacts 20 arranged along electrical contacts 14 to be short-circuited, whereby the short-circuit contacts 20 have a base plate 20a secured in the housing 8 and a pair of contact arms 20b which are bent from the back edge of the base plate 20a toward the front end of the base plate 20a. Under each of the contact arms 20b, two primary restriction members 20c bent from the side edges of the base plate 20a are provided and a secondary restriction member 20d bent in a transverse direction from the center of the base plate 20a is also provided.
