This monitoring sensor is provided with polymer matrix layerscontaining a magnetic filler and attached to an outer casing or an electrode group, and a magnetism detection unitfor detecting a change in magnetism. The magnetic filler is magnetized in the in-plane direction of the polymer matrix layers. An interface layeris formed between the polymer matrix layersthat are arranged with edges thereof facing each other. The directions of magnetization of the magnetic filler on one side and the other side having the interface layerinterposed therebetween are opposite to each other and intersect with the interface layeras viewed in the thickness direction of the polymer matrix layers. The magnetism detection unitis disposed on a straight line Lpassing through the interface layerand extending in the thickness direction of the polymer matrix layers
