An optical component and a method of producing the same, which optical component is obtained by photopolymerizing a photopolymerizable composition so as to comprise a matrix and numerous columnar structure bodies oriented in one direction within the matrix, wherein the columnar structure bodies differ in refractive index from the matrix and are arrayed in a lattice in the plane perpendicular to said orientation direction to have a highly arrayed structure whose refractive index periodically changes on the order of 80 nm to 1,000 micrometer. The optical component according to the invention is imparted with a structure whose refractive index periodically changes with high regularity on the order of about 80 nm to 1,000 micrometer and, owing to this property, is usable in optical sheet, optical film and other ordinary optical applications.

Disclosed is an optical multi/demultiplexer, which comprises a graded index type light transmission section whose refractive index is continuously reduced in the direction from the center to the periphery thereof, a wavelength-multiplexed-light connecting section disposed at one of the axial ends of the light transmission section, and at least one monochromatic light connecting section disposed at the other axial end of the light transmission section. The dimension ratio t/H of the thickness t of a flexure spring to the height (thickness) H of a slider 17 is set at 0.047 or less in order to reduce the variation in crown amount due to a temperature variation. As the ratio of the thickness t of the flexure spring to the height H of the slider decreases, the stress acting in the slider due to a difference in linear expansion coefficient between itself and the flexure spring decreases and the rigidity of the slider increases relative to the flexure spring. A magnetic disk apparatus has a base frame on which a magnetic disk having a head landing zone is carried. A magnetic head is supported by a carriage which is disposed on the base frame to be movable between a stop position where the head is located on the head landing zone of the disk and a position where the head is located on the outer peripheral edge portion of the disk. The carriage is urged by a first urging member to the stop position and is moved by a carriage drive mechanism. A lock member is disposed on the base frame to be movable between an engaged position where the lock member engages the carriage in the stop position to hold it therein and a disengaged position off the path of travel of the carriage. The lock member is urged by a second urging member to the engaged position and is held in the disengaged position by a solenoid when it is energized. After the electric power supplied to the carriage drive mechanism, the solenoid and a disk drive motor for rotating the disk is cut off, the solenoid is energized for a predetermined period by a power supply unit.
