The present invention is directed to a hyperbranched-polyester comprising at least one kind of a structural unit selected from an aromatic oxycarbonyl unit (P), aromatic and/or aliphatic dioxy units (Q), and an aromatic dicarboxy unit (R), and a trifunctional or higher polyfunctional organic residue (B), wherein the content of B is within a range from 7.5 to 50 mol % based on entire monomers constituting the hyperbranched-polyester. The present invention provides a hyperbranched-polyester which can remarkably improve thin-wall flowability, stiffness and gas barrier property by blending with a thermoplastic resin, and a thermoplastic resin composition blended with the same.

A liquid crystal resin comprises structural units derived from at least two types of aromatic diols. The liquid crystal resin generates 100 ppm or less of acetic acid gas, less than 20 ppm of phenol gas, and less than 100 ppm of carbon dioxide gas when the liquid crystal resin is retained at a melting point +10&#xb0; C. (or at 335&#xb0; C. when the melting point is less than 325&#xb0; C.) for 30 minutes in a helium gas atmosphere. The present invention provides a liquid crystal resin or a composition containing this resin by which metal corrosion, clouding of glass, bulging of molded articles, and the like are reduced.

Provided is a polyamide resin composition comprising a melt blend of (A) a polyamide resin, (B) a phyllosilicate, and (C) an olefin compound having a carboxylic acid anhydride group in the molecule or a polymer of the olefin compound, in which the phyllosilicate (B) has a reactive functional group bonded thereto and is such that the exchangeable metal ions existing in the inter layers are ion-exchanged with organic onium ions. The composition has a reduced inorganic ash content and has both high stiffness and high ductility. Optionally, the composition contains an inorganic filler apart from the phyllosilicate, an impact modifier, and a flame retardant, still having high stiffness and high ductility.

Polyamide resin composition and process for producing the same

A composite particulate material for resin reinforcement which comprises an inorganic particulate material (A) and an elastic polymer (B) having a glass transition temperature of -10.degree. C. or below and also having functional groups capable of forming chemical bonds with resins to be reinforced, said components (A) and (B) accounting for 50-99 wt % and 50-1 wt %, respectively, of their total amount. A process for producing said composite particulate material. A reinforced resin composition incorporated with said composite particulate material. The resin composition yields molded articles which are improved in mutually contradicting properties (that is, impact strength vs. stiffness and elongation at break vs. heat resistance) and which have mechanical properties with less anisotropy. Disclosed is a flame-retardant liquid crystal polyester composition, which comprises (A) 100 wt. parts of a liquid crystal polyester comprising structural units of the following formulae (I), (II), (III) and (IV), in which the amount of units (I) and (II) is 77 to 95 mole% based on the sum of units (I), (II) and (III), the amount of units (III) is 23 to 5 mole% based on the sum of units (I), (II) and (III), and the units (I)/units (II) molar ratio is 75/25-95/5 and (B) 0.5 to 30 wt. parts of a polymeric flame retardant having an average dispersed particle diameter not larger than 2.5 .mu.m: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are specific aromatic residues.
