Received by a program display apparatus are: programs for each of which a receiving time has been determined; digest views corresponding to the programs; and receiving-time information for the programs. The received digest views and receiving-time information are stored in a memory. A moving picture is displayed on a main screen zone of a monitor screen, with the digest views that have been stored in the memory on a sub screen zone of the monitor screen, as being superposed on the moving picture, according to the user's operation. Each digest view is allowed to be displayed on the sub screen zone when a remaining time of the program corresponding the digest view, obtained based on the receiving-time information, is longer than the reference time. The digest view is, however, inhibited from being displayed on the sub screen zone when the remaining time is equal to or shorter than the reference time.

A digital broadcast receiving apparatus has a receiver to receive electronic program guide (EPG) data containing video data and character data associated with TV programs and a display controller to process the EPG data to display an EPG with at least the character data on a screen, displaying of the video data being depending on duration of each TV program. The display controller controls displaying such that only the character data is displayed for TV programs having duration shorter than a predetermined time whereas both of the character data and the video data are displayed for TV programs having duration equal to or longer than the predetermined time by adjusting a size of the video data in a direction of height or width in the EPG as an integer multiple of a size of the character data.

A plurality of video signals of which colorimetries are different with each other are inputted. YCrCb-to-RGB conversion circuits converts at least two video signals having different colorimetries to an RGB color signal having a single colorimetry with matrixes corresponding to the colorimetries switched. An RGB-to-YCrCb conversion circuit may be further provided to convert the RGB color signal to a YCrCb signal again to supply it to a display with colorimetry matched to the display.

A disk stores data groups (GOP) of compressed picture data arranged over sectors. A positional data of a leading sector is recorded in the 1st field. The leading sector is located in a 3rd field in which data D is recorded. The positional data is detected to reproduce the data D.

The system uses a recording medium including a first recording area in which data including a program are recorded and further including a second recording area which is formed at a specific position thereof and in which data including a specific identification code are recorded so as not to be rewritable by a user. The recording medium is coupled through a recording/reproduction device to a control unit for executing the program recorded in the first recording area of the recording medium. The control unit reads out the identification code recorded in the second recording area and stops the execution of the program when the read-out identification code is not coincident with a predetermined ID code.

In an apparatus for recording/reproducing data on a disc along a spiral track, a track-turn position of a record/reproduce head is changed in response to a kick back signal determined by a value of the register and read/write error signal just after a sector pulse or an address signal in addition to the conventional access command which changes the track-turn position through calculation from address included in the access command and the present address. The change of the track-turn position by the kick back signal makes access time shorter than that which would be done by the conventional access command. Moreover, in such apparatus, execution of the kick back operation is determined at every N sectors, wherein N=M-[T1/T2], where M is the number of sectors of one track turn; T1 is a time interval necessary for changing the record/reproduce head by one track-turn back; T2 is an interval necessary for scanning one sector by the record/reproduce head; and [T1/T2] shows a least natural number more than T1/T2. This makes timing of start for reading/writing earlier after the kick back operation.
