A liquid crystal display device that is not influenced by a noise in obtaining positional information can be provided. The liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate provided with a pixel electrode and a common electrode with a first insulating film interposed therebetween. The pixel electrode and the common electrode partly overlap with each other. The liquid crystal display device further includes a second substrate provided with a pair of electrodes, a resin film covering the pair of electrodes, and a conductive film on the resin film. The pair of electrodes partly overlap with each other with a second insulating film interposed therebetween. The liquid crystal display device further includes a liquid crystal layer between the conductive film on the second substrate side and the pixel electrode and the common electrode on the first substrate side. A predetermined potential is supplied to the conductive film.

Liquid crystal display device

A display device having a novel structure that can improve reliability is provided. It lowers reliability to form a structure by using a photomask, such as a color filter on a rear side of a substrate. With this display device, a transistor and the color filter is provided over a first substrate, a touch sensor is provided on a first surface of a second substrate, and the structure is not provided on a second surface of the second substrate. Consequently, the display device with the touch sensor can perform high reliability.

Display device

An object is, in a structure where switch circuits in a signal line driver circuit is placed over the same substrate as a pixel portion, to reduce the size of transistors in the switch circuits and to reduce load in the circuits during charging and discharging of signal lines due to the supply of data. A display device is provided which includes a pixel portion receiving a video signal, and a signal line driver circuit including a switch circuit portion configured to control output of the video signal to the pixel portion. The switch circuit portion includes a transistor over an insulating substrate. The transistor has a field-effect mobility of at least 80 cm/Vs or more. The transistor includes an oxide semiconductor layer.

Display device and electronic device

To provide a display device with high image quality and fewer terminals. The present invention is made with a focus on the positional relation between a serial-parallel conversion circuit and an external connection terminal for supplying a serial signal to the serial-parallel conversion circuit. The structure conceived is such that a serial-parallel conversion circuit and an external connection terminal for supplying a serial signal to the serial-parallel conversion circuit are provided close to each other so that an RC load between the serial-parallel conversion circuit and the external connection terminal is reduced.

When a semiconductor device is provided with an inverter comprising a transistor having a first gate and a second gate, the semiconductor device does not require a circuit for generating a potential to be input to the second gate of the transistor and has a small number of wirings. Moreover, a semiconductor device having high reliability is provided. The semiconductor device includes a plurality of stages of circuits each provided with two inverter circuits in parallel. Two inverter circuits in a given stage output respective signals of opposite polarities, which is utilized for interchanging signals output from inverter circuits in the previous stage. Thus, an inverted signal is input to the second gate of the transistor included in each of two inverter circuits in the subsequent stage.

Semiconductor device

A vehicle headlamp device can be equipped with a discharge lamp a beam switch device that is used to switch between the high beam and low beam, a light distribution switch device which broadens the horizontal light distribution in the forward direction of the vehicle during cornering, and a lighting device which supplies electric power to the discharge lamp. The light distribution switch device can be controlled such that the horizontal light distribution is broadened in the forward direction when the vehicle speed and steering angle exceed specified values. The lighting device can be controlled such that the electric power supplied to the discharge lamp increases only when the horizontal light distribution is broadened by the light distribution switch device

Vehicle headlamp device

A vehicle headlamp device is designed to provide the feeling that sufficient light quantity exists in the high beam (H-beam) mode despite the use of a single discharge light source. The headlamp can be produced at low cost and by simple construction without the need for installing an auxiliary reflective part on the reflective member. The vehicle headlamp device can include a discharge lamp light source, a switching device for switching between the high beam and low beam, and a lighting device which supplies electric power to the discharge lamp. The lighting device can be controlled such that the electric power supplied to the discharge lamp is increased only when the beam is switched to the H-beam mode by the switching device.

An object of the present invention is to enable to adequately adjust an optical beam axis of a lamp in response to an inclining angle of a main body of a vehicle in a back and forth direction in an optical beam axis adjustment apparatus of a head lamp for use in vehicle. Upward and downward movements of front and rear wheels are individually sensed by use of respective stroke sensors 1 and 2. An angular detecting unit 3a detects the inclining angle of the main body of the vehicle in the back and forth direction depending upon the output signals produced from the stroke sensors while a traveling sensing unit 3b senses a traveling status and a stopping status of the vehicle. A control unit 3 adjusts the optical beam axis of the head lamp 5 through an actuator 4 during stopping of the vehicle, corresponding to the detected angular data produced from the stroke sensors 1 and 2; and averaged during a certain specified period which precedes the adjustment.

A shield member is placed in a case, and connector pins extend through respective through capacitors and are soldered to the shield member. A core is inserted in the case, and has an engaging member engaging an upstanding portion of the case, the core having a gap fitted over a ridge on the case. A printed-circuit board has positioning holes fitted over pins on the core. The connector pins have respective upper ends inserted through and soldered to through holes defined in the printed-circuit board. Attachment holes defined in the printed-circuit board are held in registry with threaded holes defined in an upper end of the upstanding portion of the case, and the printed-circuit board is fastened to the upstanding portion by screws threaded through the attachment holes into the threaded holes. A shield cover is bent over into alignment with an upper edge of the shield member, and teeth on the shield member are bent inwardly onto and soldered or spot-welded to the shield cover. A cover is finally fixed to the case by fitting teeth on the cover into recesses in an upper end of the cover.

Current detecting device with a core having an integrally fixed engaging

A Hall-effect device for detecting a magnetic flux intensity has a pair of input terminals connected respectively to a constant-voltage regulated power supply and an FET. The FET has a gate connected to the output terminal of an operational amplifier. One of the input terminals of the operational amplifier is connected to the junction between a variable resistor and a temperature-dependent variable resistor which jointly serve as a voltage divider. The temperature-dependent variable resistor has a temperature characteristic of resistance which is opposite to the temperature characteristic of sensitivity of the Hall-effect device. When the ambient temperature varies, the sensitivity of the Hall-effect device also varies, and so does the resistance of the temperature-dependent variable resistor. The divided voltage applied from the voltage divider to the operational amplifier drops, lowering the voltage applied to the gate of the FET. The internal resistance of the FET also decreases to lower a drive current flowing through the Hall-effect device for thereby compensating a temperature-dependent sensitivity change of the Hall-effect device. Therefore, the sensitivity of the Hall-effect device remains constant.

A warning apparatus for warning of possible rear-end collision of a given vehicle having the warning apparatus with another vehicle preceding the given vehicle includes: a computer; a distance sensor for measuring a vehicle-to-vehicle distance to the another preceding vehicle; and a velocity sensor for measuring the velocity of the given vehicle. The computer computes a relative velocity of the given and the another preceding vehicle from a differential of the vehicle-to-vehicle distance and then computes an anticipated rear-end collision time by dividing of the vehicle-to-vehicle distance by the relative velocity of the given vehicle. The computer corrects the anticipated rear-end collision time in response to an acceleration and the relative velocity. The computer produces a warning of signal and an alarm is provided in response to the corrected anticipated rear-end collision time. A method of warning of a possible rear-end collision comprises the step of: detecting a vehicle-to-vehicle distance between a given vehicle and the another vehicle preceding the given vehicle; detecting a velocity of the given vehicle; computing an anticipated rear-end collision time T.sub.a of the given vehicle with the another vehicle, with an equation: ##EQU1## and producing a warning in response to the computed anticipated rear-end collision time T.sub.a.

Apparatus and method of warning rear-end collision

A road information displaying method characterized in that detailed information can be obtained on an auxiliary indicator 1 without changing the scale of a main indicator 21 by setting a small auxiliary indicator 1 in an instrument panel 10 in addition to a main indicator 21 of a center console 20 and using a road information display method for displaying details of road information corresponding to the display of the main indicator 21 on the auxiliary indicator 1. Thus, operation is simplified because it is unnecessary to change the scale of the area being displayed and change of the direction of the driver's line of sight during driving is decreased because the auxiliary indicator 1 is set in the instrument panel 10, and safety is improved.

A dual head type magnetic disk recording/reproducing apparatus, in which a magnetic disk is inserted and/or from which the magnetic disk is ejected, the magnetic disk having a first surface and a second surface each of which is segmented into a plurality of tracks, each track having a corresponding track number, the dual head type magnetic disk recording/reproducing apparatus includes a first magnetic head which reproduces an information signal from a first track on the first surface, a second magnetic head which reproduces an information signal from a second track on the second surface, a track number of the second track corresponding to that of the first track, and a predetermined number of tracks being between the first track and a radial location of the second track, a low pass filter, coupled to the first and second magnetic heads, to which the information signals reproduced by the first and second magnetic heads are supplied, and control means, coupled to the low pass filter, for adjusting a cut-off frequency of the low pass filter so that a resolution of the information signal reproduced at the first track and that of the information signal reproduced at the second track can be approximately equal to each other.
