A buckling-restrained brace includes a core and a restrainer, the core includes a first steel plate having a first yield point, a second steel plate having a second yield point different from the first yield point, and a third steel plate having a third yield point different from the first yield point, the first steel plate is sandwiched between the second steel plate and the third steel plate, and a length of a first yielding segment of the first steel plate in the axial direction is different from a length of the second yielding segment of the second steel plate in the axial direction, and is different from a length of the third yielding segment of the third steel plate in the axial direction.

A control valve device includes a valve block that switches the flowing direction of a working fluid supplied to and discharged from a boom cylinder and an arm cylinder (actuators). The valve block includes an actuator port connected to the boom cylinder, and a supply port, a discharge port, and a regeneration port communicating with the actuator port. A supply valve is provided between the actuator port and the supply port, and a discharge valve is provided between the actuator port and the discharge port.

A solenoid valve includes a main poppet configured to control a flow rate of working fluid flowing in a valve passage according to a pilot pressure, an auxiliary poppet configured to adjust the pilot pressure according to the electromagnetic force, and a first seat portion and a second seat portion provided in the valve passage. The main poppet includes a poppet valve seated on the first seat portion and a spool valve slidable in the second seat portion. The spool valve includes an outer peripheral surface slidable relative to the second seat portion and through holes open on the outer surface and configured such that areas thereof exposed from the second seat portion change in accordance with a movement of the spool valve.

One embodiment of the invention includes a preamplifier system for a magnetic disk-drive. The system includes a current distributor configured to generate a reference current and to decay the reference current from a first magnitude to a second magnitude during a degauss period to degauss a magnetic disk write head. The degauss period defines a transition from a write cycle to a read cycle of the magnetic disk-drive and has a predetermined time duration that is independent of the first magnitude of the reference current during the write cycle. An output driver is configured to provide a write current to the magnetic disk write head having a magnitude with an absolute value that is based on the reference current.

Methods and apparatus to perform hard-disk drive head proximity detection in a preamplifier are described. One example method of detecting head position in a hard-disk drive includes obtaining a read signal from a head reading information from a disk; determining a signal envelope of the read signal; comparing the signal envelope to a first threshold to produce a first comparison; filtering the signal envelope; comparing the filtered signal envelope to a second threshold to produce a second comparison; combining the first comparison and the second comparison; and determining if the combination of the first comparison and the second comparison indicates head position oscillation.

Methods and apparatus to perform hard-disk drive head proximity detection in a preamplifier

A column-and-beam join structure comprises connecting the column and beam with a pair of split tees. At least one split tee has a web with a portion of the web having a reduced cross-sectional area. The web with the reduced cross-sectional area is located between a flange of the beam and a buckling restraint. The buckling restraint is connected to the flange of the beam with bolts. The sides of the bolts are in the proximity to the side surface of the portion of the web of the split tee having the reduced cross-sectional area. Annular members may be arranged surrounding portions of the bolts that are in proximity to the side surface of the portion of the web having the reduced cross-sectional area.

Column-and-beam join structure

The present invention provides a current-sense bias circuit for use with a magnetoresistive head. In one embodiment, the current-sense bias circuit includes a voltage biasing portion configured to provide a bias voltage across the magnetoresistive head thereby establishing a bias current through the magnetoresistive head. Additionally, the current-sense bias circuit also includes a current sensing portion coupled to the voltage biasing portion and configured to sense a change in the bias current based on a resistivity change of the magnetoresistive head.

An H-type bridge circuit includes four transistors, two resistors, and a write head. A write current supplied from a current supply circuit including a first of the transistors and resistors flows through the write head and is received in a current receiving circuit including a second of the resistors and a fourth of the transistors, and another write current supplied from a current supply circuit including the second of the transistors and the second resistor flows through the write head and is received in a current receiving circuit including the first of the resistors and the third of the transistors. Impedance of the write head matches an output impedance of the current supply circuit and matches an input impedance of the current receiving circuit.

A signal amplifying circuit has a differential amplifying circuit, a capacitor and a voltage follower. This circuit takes as input signal the signals outputted from the two terminals of an MR element to which a bias electric current is supplied, and amplifies and outputs the difference in input signals from output terminals. One input terminal of this circuit is connected directly with one of the terminals of the MR element. A capacitor connects the other input terminal of this circuit with the another terminal of the MR element. The two input terminals of this circuit are connected respectively with a non-inverting input terminal and an inverting input terminal of the voltage follower. The voltage follower provides an output to an input terminal of this circuit via a resistance.
