The present application discloses battery sealant compositions which exhibit excellent flexibility and chemical (alkalinity) resistance properties without requiring the use of organic solvents. These compositions comprise an epoxy resin, such as polybutadiene epoxy resin; a polyol material, such as a butadiene polyol; a cationic photoinitiator; and optionally a radiation curable monomer, such as a vinyl ether monomer. Electrochemical (battery) cells which incorporate a seal made by the photoinitiated polymerization of this material is is also disclosed.

A one-part type radiation curable silicone composition capable of curing at an ordinary temperature is provided. The silicone composition comprises an unsaturated group-containing polyorganosiloxane and a polysilane in which at least one at least two silicon atoms are bonded to each other and which has at least one polyorganosiloxane group in a side chain thereof.

Disclosed is an organosilicon compound represented by the general formula ##STR1## wherein m and n are each an integer of 1 to 5, R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each independently an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms or allyl, and a is an integer of 0 to 2. This organosilicon compound is a novel compound capable of affording a photopolymerizable organopolysiloxane of high quality.
