Data and directories are separated and stored on separate parts of an optical disk. Directories are on the inner tracks and data are on the outer tracks, in a first format. Data and directories are written from magnetic disk storage in a different second specific format that is determined by a particular operating system used by an information processor. A medical information processing system is provided with an external magnetic disk storage and the optical disk.

Information system using designating areas for retrieving/converting

A method and apparatus for storing and rewriting programs in an IC card. The system provides for storing programs in subdivided portions identified by attribute information including a program number, size and address. The system enables the rewriting of constituent elements of programs without the need for rewriting larger portions. The information identifying the programs parts is stored in an attribute information table in which said sub-area discrimination information and said management information are stored in combination.

Method for rewriting partial program data in an IC card and apparatus

An IC card storing therein information transmitted from an external terminal unit includes a processor, an interface, a first memory for storing a system program, a second memory for storing an application program, and a third memory for storing processed data. The second memory includes a latch circuit for temporarily latching data of a plurality of bytes transmitted to the IC card from the external terminal unit, and an electrically erasable and programmable memory for storing data of a predetermined number of bytes when the data is transferred to the latch circuit.

IC card and method for writing information therein

An IC card including a processor, a first memory for storing therein a system program which runs on the processor and which is associated with a basic operation of the IC card, a second memory for storing therein an application program which runs on the processor and which corresponds to a usage of the IC card, a third memory for storing therein data processed by the processor, an input/output unit for effecting input and output operations of programs and data, a program stop section for stopping the program being executed on the processor at a specified address and a data output section for supplying the input/output unit with either one of a content of a register in the processor and a content of an area at an address of at least one of the first, second, and third memories when the program running on the processor is stopped.

A secret information collation method is used between electronic apparatuses that included a portable electronic device and an information processing device. The portable electronic device can include an arithmetic processing section and a memory section for storing therein a processing program to be executed by the arithmetic processing section and first secret information. The portable electronic device collating second secret information inputted from the outside with the first secret information and performing predetermined operation in response to an operation request from the outside satisfying predetermined secret information relationship. A portable electronic device includes an arithmetic processing section and a memory section for storing therein a processing program to be executed by the arithmetic processing section and first secret information such as a secret identification number. The memory section stores a secret information input processing program for calling upon an external information processing device to transfer second secret information corresponding to the first secret information, and a secret information collation program.
