In one embodiment, a generator includes an alternating current exciter to output first, second and third alternating currents respectively having first, second and third phases, and a rotary rectifier to convert the first, second and third alternating currents into first, second and third direct currents, respectively. The generator further includes a rotating shaft on which the exciter and the rectifier are mounted, and plural conductors mounted on the shaft, and including one or more first conductors, one or more second conductors and one or more third conductors to respectively supply the first, second and third alternating currents from the exciter to the rectifier. The plural conductors include one or more conductor groups in each of which two or more conductors are collectively arranged, and each of the conductor groups includes the two or more conductors arranged to cancel a magnetic field around each conductor in the same group.

According to one embodiment, there is provided armature windings of a rotating electrical machine, in which a 3-phase winding of two layers including upper and lower layers is constituted of phase belts having an electrical phase difference of 60&#xb0; in between, pairs of upper coil pieces and lower coil pieces are contained in slots, the number of slots per pole per phase includes a fractional number, and a denominator thereof is an integral number greater than or equal to 4, wherein coil arrangement is carried out such that at least one coil piece in either of the upper or lower coil pieces included in two layers of upper and lower layers in one phase belt is replaced with a coil piece of an adjacent different phase.

According to one embodiment, an armature winding includes a plurality of rectangular solid conductors and a plurality of rectangular hollow conductors, which are arranged such that tip of end portions thereof form one surface, the surface being coated with a brazing filler material, and an anti-flowing agent applied on a portion of an inner surface of each hollow conductor to prevent the brazing filler material from flowing into hollow portions of the hollow conductors.
