Provided is a gel particle measuring apparatus for detecting scattered light generated by light irradiation at a production start time point of a gel particle, and performing measurement promptly and accurately while suppressing attenuation of the scattered light in a solvent in which the phenomenon occurs. The gel particle measuring apparatus includes: a sample cell () configured to accommodate a sample (S) and a solution containing a reagent (R); a stirrer () configured to continuously stir a mixed solution (W) in the sample cell (); a light source () configured to irradiate the mixed solution (W) in the sample cell () with coherent irradiation light (Bm); a backscattered light detector () configured to detect, out of light scattered in the mixed solution (W) in the sample cell (), a backscattered light component returning toward the light source (); a light path adjuster () configured to adjust an incident portion surface of the sample cell () so that a detection light path (ST) of, out of the light scattered in the mixed solution (W) in the sample cell (), light traveling toward the backscattered light detector () is different from a reflection light path (DT) of reflection light (Bm) reflected from a surface of the sample cell (); and a measurement device () configured to determine at least a production start time point of the gel particle (G) in the mixed solution (W) based on a detection output of the backscattered light detector ().

Method and apparatus for measuring gel particle

To measure a starting point of production of gel particles with high sensitivity in measurement of a target substance in a sample through a gelation reaction while minimizing light attenuation in a solvent in which a phenomenon occurs, provided is a gel particle measurement device including: a sample cuvet () accommodating a sample (S) and a solution containing a reagent (R); stirring means () for stirring a mixed solution (W); an incident light source () for irradiating the mixed solution (W) with coherent light (Bm); backscattered light detecting means () provided outside the sample cuvet () on the same side on which the incident light source () is provided, the backscattered light detecting means () detecting a backscattered light component, which returns toward the incident light source, in the light scattered in the mixed solution (W) in the sample cuvet (); scattered light fluctuation measuring means () for measuring a fluctuation component of backscattered light based on a detection output from the backscattered light detecting means (); and gel particle production determining means () for determining, based on a result of measurement by the scattered light fluctuation measuring means (), a production state of gel particles, which includes at least a starting point of production of the gel particles, which leads to timing of phase transition of the mixed solution (W) from a sol phase to a gel phase.

Gel particle measurement device

Provided is a gel particle measurement reagent effective in quickly measuring a time point of initiation of production of gel particles. A gel particle measurement reagent R is a gel particle measurement reagent to be used to be agitated continuously with a sample S containing a target substance St as a measuring object to turn the target substance St into gel particles, including: a reagent base materialthat undergoes a gelation reaction with the target substance St; and a biologically inactive particle formation accelerating factorthat is added to the reagent base material, has solubility in the sample S and dissolves therein at a concentration of 0.002 to 1%, and accelerates production of gel particles G whose particle sizes are centered in a predetermined range.

Gel particle measurement reagent and measurement method using same

A gel particle measuring apparatus detects a gel particle production starting point with high sensitivity, for measurement of a target substance in a sample by a gelation reaction. The gel particle measuring apparatus includes a sample cell accommodating a sample and a solution containing a reagent, a stirring device for stirring a mixed solution including the sample and the solution containing the reagent, a coherent light source that irradiates the mixed solution with coherent light, a transmitted light detecting device outside the sample cell, on the opposite side of the coherent light source, a transmitted light fluctuation detecting device for detecting a fluctuation component of the transmitted light, and a gel particle production determining device for determining at least the production state of gel particles, which leads to timing of phase transition of the mixed solution from a sol phase to a gel phase.
