The present invention provides a metallic fiber nonwoven fabric manufacturing apparatus mainly including a metallic fiber manufacturing apparatus (), an ejection nozzle heater (), a metallic fiber flying apparatus (), a nonwoven fabric surface density control mechanism, a method for manufacturing an aluminum fiber fabric by using the metallic fiber nonwoven fabric manufacturing apparatus, and a method for manufacturing a laminated aluminum material. By using the metallic fiber nonwoven fabric manufacturing apparatus, manufacture of a high-quality metallic fiber nonwoven fabric and manufacture of an aluminum fiber nonwoven fabric are possible. Further, manufacture of a laminated aluminum material is also possible.

The present invention provides a membranous-vibration sound absorbing material which can achieve not only good sound absorbing characteristics, workability and strength but also transparency. The membranous-vibration sound absorbing material can also achieve dust-proof and dust-free properties when necessary and can be suitably used for application in clean rooms and the like.

Membranous-vibration sound absorbing materials

The improved sound absorbing material comprises an aluminum base expanded metal (or an aluminum base metal screen) which is laminated with an aluminum base metal foil (or a thin resin film), or additionally with an aluminum base metal fiber layer. The aluminum base metal foil (or thin resin film) has ruptures, which vibrate in the process of sound absorption to permit the sound absorbing material to exhibit excellent sound-absorbing characteristics over a broad frequency range. The improved sound absorbing material can be produced by a process which comprises the steps of preparing a laminate comprising the members described above and pressing the laminate so that the individual members are compressed together while forming ruptures in a regular pattern in the aluminum base metal foil (or thin resin film).

A porous metallic material of the present invention is constructed of a laminate consisting of an expanded metal and a fibrous metallic fiber both of which are pressed to be joined to each other under pressure. This porous metallic material is excellent in bending strength and workability. The porous metallic material may be laminated to a honeycomb structural element and a rigid plate so as to form a porous structural material. To this porous metallic material may be also laminated a decorative layer so as to form a porous decorative sound absorbing material. The present invention provides the above-mentioned products and method for manufacturing the same.

A porous metallic material of the present invention is constructed of a laminate consisting of an expanded metal and a fibrous metallic fiber both of which are pressed to be joined to each other under pressure. This porous metallic material is excellent in bending strength and workability. The porous metallic materials may be laminated to a honeycomb structural element and a rigid plate so as to form a porous structural material. To this porous metallic material may be also laminated a decorative layer so as to form a porous decorative sound absorbing material. The present invention provides the above-mentioned products and method for manufacturing the same.

A process for preparing a porous metal plate is disclosed which is adapted to use short metal fiber to prepare the plate. The process is capable of providing a porous metal plate which has increased bending strength and porosity, of which the porosity and thickness are controlled as desired and which has a wide and lengthy shape. The so-formed porous metal plate is capable of being extensively utilized, for example, not only as a filter and a sound absorption material but for a fuel cell, a catalyst and the like. It is formed by applying adhesive onto a surface of a substrate, and embedding short metal fibers in the adhesive. The composite thus formed is then pressed, to push over the short metal fibers, and the composite is then sintered. The substrate is a material which is capable of being burned out, or is a metal net, or is a release paper, so that the final plate will be porous throughout.
