A superconducting magnet apparatus including a superconducting coil for generating a magnetic field, a radiation shield surrounding the superconducting coil, a refrigerator for cooling the superconducting coil, and a cryostat provided inside the radiation shield to store a coolant cooled by the refrigerator, wherein the cryostat is thermally connected to the superconducting coil.

Superconducting magnet apparatus

In the adiabatic apparatus of the present invention, a vessel includes an adiabatic layer in which an object is taken. A plurality of thermal shield plates are located in the adiabatic layer. Each thermal shield plate concentrically surrounds the object. A temperature control section cools or heats the object and the plurality of thermal shield plates. A switch section thermally connects the temperature control section to the plurality of thermal shield plates and the object if temperature of the plurality of thermal shield plates and the object is controlled, and thermally separates the temperature control section from the plurality of thermal shield plates and the object if control of the temperature of the plurality of thermal shield plates and the object is completed.

Adiabatic apparatus

A cryogenic cooling apparatus including a vacuum container for containing an object to be cooled, at least one refrigerator for cooling the object, and a thermal switch unit. The refrigerator has a high-temperature cooling stage and a low-temperature cooling stage connected to the high-temperature cooling stage via a low-temperature cylinder. The thermal switch unit has at least one high-temperature heat transfer member attached to the high-temperature cooling stage, at least one low-temperature heat transfer member attached to the low-temperature cooling stage and separated from the high-temperature heat transfer member, and a sealed container provided between the high-temperature cooling stage and the low-temperature cooling stage. The sealed container contains the low-temperature and high-temperature heat transfer members, and a substance capable of existing as a gas or as a solid, heat conduction between the high-temperature heat transfer member and the low-temperature heat transfer member occurring via the substance when the substance is a gas. The sealed container has no communication with outside the sealed container during an operation of the thermal switch unit.

Self-contained cooling apparatus for achieving cyrogenic temperatures

A cryogenic cooling apparatus is provided, wherein the degree of freedom of installation and use is increased without deteriorating the reliability or stability and the range of uses of the apparatus is also increased. A coil unit and a refrigeration unit are positioned such that a second heat conductive member disposed on an extendible wall of a vacuum container and a fourth heat conductive member disposed on an extendible wall of another vacuum container face each other coaxially. In this state, the coil unit and refrigeration unit are relatively moved to approach each other, and thus the second heat conductive member and fourth heat conductive member come in contact. If the coil unit and refrigeration unit are further moved, the extendible wall extends and consequently the second heat conductive member comes in contact with a first heat conductive member. In addition, the extendible wall contracts and consequently the fourth heat conductive member comes in contact with a third heat conductive member. Thus, a superconducting coil is thermally connected to the refrigeration unit so that the superconducting coil is cooled.

The superconducting magnet apparatus includes a cryostat, a superconducting coil provided in the cryostat, and a current lead having a portion made of an oxide superconductor, for supplying a current to the superconducting coil. The portion of the current lead which is made of the oxide superconductor has a high-temperature end and a low-temperature end, and the current lead is arranged such that the direction of a current flow in at least the high-temperature end and the direction of a leakage magnetic flux applied from the superconducting coil to the high-temperature end are made substantially in parallel to each other.

The present invention provides a pulse tube refrigerator, comprising a regenerator having an inlet port and an outlet port, a pulse tube having one end portion connected in series to the outlet port of the regenerator, a gas compressor connected to the inlet port of the regenerator, a first valve disposed between the discharge port of the gas compressor and the inlet port of the regenerator, a second valve disposed between the suction port of the gas compressor and the inlet port of the regenerator, a first valve controller for selectively opening/closing alternately the first and second valves to permit a high pressure coolant gas discharged from the discharge port of the gas compressor to be guided into the pulse tube through the regenerator and, then, to permit said coolant gas to be sucked into the gas compressor through the suction port thereof via the reverse passageway so as to generate coldness, a third valve disposed between the other end portion of the pulse tube and the discharge port of the gas compressor, a fourth valve disposed between the other end portion of the pulse tube and the suction port of the gas compressor, and a second valve controller serving to open/close the third and fourth valves in relation to the opening/closing of the first and second valves.

Pulse tube refrigerator

A cryostat housing an ultra-low temperature medium includes a container for storing the ultra-low temperature medium, a pipe for communication between the inner and outer sections of the container, at least one tubular member interposedly arranged inside the pipe between the pipe and an opening, a heat anchor section for cooling the pipe, and a plate-shaped member positioned so that a gas layer of the ultra-low temperature medium inside the tubular member divides the tubular member longitudinally.

A cryogenic refrigerator comprising a closed cylinder provided with an inlet and an outlet for introducing and discharging a coolant gas into and out of the cylinder, a displacer slidably housed in the closed cylinder and housing a cooling member therein and having a passage through which the coolant gas flows, a device coaxially arranged in and along the passage of the displacer in which the cooling member is housed to divide the passage into outer and inner ones, a device for reciprocating the displacer in the cylinder, and a device for repeating the process of introducing the high pressure coolant gas into the cylinder through the inlet and discharging it out of the cylinder, synchronizing with the reciprocating displacer.

Cryogenic refrigerator

A helium cooling apparatus includes a liquid helium container which stores liquid helium and a condensation chamber incorporating a condensation heat exchanger for condensing a gas helium into liquid helium. A transfer tube allows the liquid helium container to communicate with the condensation chamber. The transfer tube has a gas flow path and a liquid helium flow path independently thereof. When the liquid helium in the liquid helium container is evaporated into gas helium, the gas helium is guided to the condensation chamber through the gas helium flow path. The gas helium is condensed by a condensation heat exchanger into liquid helium. The liquid helium is guided to the liquid helium container through the liquid helium flow path.

Helium cooling apparatus

A helium cooling apparatus according to the present invention comprises a refrigerator for cooling a refrigerant. The refrigerator is connected with the proximal end of a transfer line, which is used to transport the refrigerant. A port with a predetermined diameter is formed in a liquid-helium container which contains liquid helium. A condensation-heat exchanger, which is connected to the distal end of the transfer line, is inserted into the liquid-helium container through the port. A heat-transfer surface of the heat exchanger is formed with a plurality of grooves extending in the gravitational direction. The refrigerant is evaporated in the heat exchanger, and condensed liquid helium, adhering to the heat-transfer surface, drops along the grooves when helium gas in the liquid-helium container is cooled to be recondensed. Accordingly, the heat-transfer surface cannot be covered with the condensed liquid helium, so that a wide heat-transfer area can be secured. Thus, the heat transfer coefficient of the heat exchanger is improved considerably. In this arrangement, therefore, the port of the liquid-helium container, through which the exchanger is inserted into the container, need not have a large diameter.

A magnetic refrigerating apparatus comprises a working substance adapted to produce heat when magnetized, and cool down when demagnetized, a superconductive coil for applying a predetermined magnetic field to the working substance, a regenerating pipe having a high-temperature portion and a low-temperature portion and being movable between a first position, where the high-temperature portion is located far away from the coil, and the low-temperature portion is located close to the coil, and a second position where the high-temperature portion is located close to the coil, and the low-temperature portion is located inside a vessel. The working substance and the regenerating pipe are respectively, so moved that the regenerating pipe is in the second position when the working substance is in the magnetization position, and that the regenerating pipe is in the first position when the working substance is in the demagnetization position.
