A display device where concentration of a stress in a display panel is suppressed, to allow improvement in display quality, reliability and the like. A display device includes a display panel, an adhesive layer and a supporting substrate. The adhesive layer is provided on the display panel. The supporting substrate is made up of a member previously provided with curved surfaces. The display panel is bonded onto the curved surface of the supporting substrate by the adhesive layer. The supporting substrate supports the display panel in a curved form along the curved surface.

Display device and method for manufacturing the same

The display device includes a pair of insulating substrates arranged so as to be opposed, a bonding layer, and a strain suppressing plate. The bonding layer is provided on the outer surface side of one insulating substrate. The strain suppressing plate has rigidity higher than that of the insulating substrate to suppress the strain caused by curving the insulating substrate. The strain suppressing plate is fixed to the insulating substrate by the bonding layer.

Display device and method of producing the same

A backlight device includes: a first prism sheet which has a triangular prism row on a major surface thereof; a first light source which emits light having directivity in a slanted direction with respect to a normal line direction of a light outgoing surface of the first prism sheet in opposite side to the triangular prism row side so as to enter into the triangular prism row of the first prism sheet; and a second light source which emits light having directivity in the normal line direction of the light outgoing surface of the first prism sheet so as to enter into the triangular prism row of the first prism sheet.

Backlight device and transmission type display apparatus

A surface light source apparatus includes: a fluorescent discharge tube having a bent portion; a light guide plate which has a corner portion facing the bent portion; a rear frame which receives the light guide plate and is formed of a resin material; and a middle frame which is provided parallel with the rear frame and is formed of a resin material. The rear frame or the middle frame has a protrusion which is in contact with the corner portion. The bent portion of the fluorescent discharge tube is disposed in a gap between the protrusion and the side surface of the rear frame.
