An image forming apparatus includes an image forming portion configured to form an image with a liquid developer containing a toner and a carrier liquid, a separating device configured to separate the toner and the carrier liquid from the liquid developer collected at the image forming portion, a first carrier supplying device supplies a first carrier liquid separated by the separating device, and a second carrier supplying device including a second carrier container to accommodate a second carrier liquid in which a ratio of the first substance to the second substance is smaller than that in the first carrier liquid separated by the separating device or no first substance is contained. An accommodating portion accommodates the liquid developer including the first carrier liquid, the second carrier liquid, and the toner, wherein the liquid developer accommodated in the accommodating portion is supplied to the image forming portion.

Provided is a recorded material in which a recording liquid is satisfactorily fixed to a recording medium and which has a sufficient chroma and a sufficient lightness, in high-speed printing. The recorded material comprises a recording medium, a toner particle including colorant particles, and a cured resin including the toner particle and fixing a toner image formed of the toner particle onto the recording medium, wherein an average circularity of the toner particle is not less than 0.70 and not more than 0.99, the toner particle is not exposed from a surface of the cured resin, and an average distance between wall surfaces of the adjacent toner particles is not less than 10 nm and less than 125 nm.

An image forming apparatus includes: an image bearing member; a development device; a speed varying unit that can vary a speed of a developer bearing member; a sensing portion that senses an environmental temperature around the development device; and a controller that can perform a mode in which, compared with a period which an image forming region of the image bearing member passes through the developing region, the rotation speed of the developer bearing member slows down a period which a non-image forming region of the image bearing member passes through the developing region, wherein based on sensing result of the sensing portion, the controller performs the mode when the environmental temperature is higher than a predetermined value, and the controller does not perform the mode when the environmental temperature is lower than the predetermined value.

A developing apparatus includes a developer carrying member for carrying a developer containing magnetic particles; a magnetic member, including first and second magnetic poles which have the same magnetic polarity; a magnetic seal provided opposed to the developer carrying member at a side remote from an image bearing member. An image forming apparatus improves precision in adjudicating the type of the recording medium while also minimizing the time required to make such an adjudication. To accomplish this, the apparatus includes a storage unit that stores a plurality of types of particular shape images that configures a two-dimensional bar code. The apparatus forms a measurement pattern image for measurement, which includes one or more of the particular shape images, upon an image carrier and reads in the measurement pattern image that is formed upon the image carrier.
