A camera module, which is an imaging apparatus incorporated in an optical apparatus, such as a camera, includes a plurality of optical systems UL, which each include a primary reflection mirror, which is a first reflector, and a secondary reflection mirror, which is a second reflector, sequentially arranged from the object side along the optical path and form images of an object, image sensors, which capture the images formed by part of the plurality of optical systems UL, and a light source, which projects light toward the object via the optical system different from the part of the plurality of optical systems UL.

An image processing apparatus includes: a plurality of micro-lenses arranged in a two-dimensional pattern so that a subject light through an image forming optical system enter there; a plurality of light receiving elements disposed in a vicinity of a focal position at rear side of the micro-lenses to correspond to the plurality of micro-lenses respectively that receive the subject light through the micro-lenses; an image synthesizing unit that synthesizes an image on a focal plane that is different from a predetermined focal plane of the image forming optical system based upon outputs from the plurality of light receiving elements; and a processing unit that, based upon at least an objective image in a vicinity of the plurality of micro-lenses, and an auxiliary image outside the vicinity of the plurality of micro-lenses, which are synthesized by the image synthesizing unit, performs a process to enhance a resolution of the objective image.

An image-capturing device includes: a photographic optical system; a photoelectric conversion element array made up with a plurality of photoelectric conversion elements arrayed therein; a micro-lens array made up with a plurality of micro-lenses arrayed therein; a data creation unit that creates pixel data at a plurality of pixels on a specific image forming plane by applying filter matrix data to output signals provided from the plurality of photoelectric conversion elements; and an image synthesis unit that synthetically generates an image on the specific image forming plane at a given position assumed along an optical axis of the photographic optical system, based upon the pixel data. The filter matrix data assume a two-dimensional data array pattern conforming to a specific intensity distribution with a distribution center thereof set at an element corresponding to a central position of a projection image of each of the plurality of pixels.

An optical system includes: a first optical member having a concave surface that reflects a light having a first circularly polarized light component and transmits a light having a second circularly polarized light component a rotation direction of which is opposite to a rotation direction of the first circularly polarized light component; and a second optical member that transforms the light having the first circularly polarized light component reflected from the first optical member into the light having the second circularly polarized light component to be reflected so as to be incident on the first optical member.
