A heat exchanger manufacturing method comprising: a welding step of disposing a first weld bead through a thickness of one of the inner and outer plate portions and fusing the first weld bead to other of the inner and outer plate portions for joining together the first and second case halves, to thereby provide the heat exchange tube; and a temporary tacking step of providing a temporarily-assembled end plate/tube unit by temporarily tacking the heat exchange tube to each of the end plates by means of a second weld bead and filling, with the second weld bead, a gap of a generally triangular shape defined, at each of the opposite end portions of the heat exchange tube, by an outer surface of the inner plate portion, an end surface of the outer plate portion and a corresponding one of the end plates.

Method of manufacturing heat exchanger

A heat exchange device includes a thermoactuator that controls a valve to open and close one or the other of two fluid passageways. The thermoactuator includes a temperature-sensitive portion arranged to slidably advance a rod that actuates the valve as the temperature sensed by the temperature-sensitive portion increases. A stopper is positioned to abut the rod to limit advancement of the rod to thereby limit the degree of opening of the valve.

Heat exchange device with thermoactuator

A heat exchanger includes a pair of end plates closing opposite ends of a cylindrical core case, and a plurality of heat exchange tubes each supported at opposite end portions by the end plates. The end plates have support holes, and opposite ends of the tubes are inserted into corresponding support holes in the end plates. Each of the tubes is formed by bending a plate material so that opposite side edge portions of the bent plate material are superimposed on each other, one of the superimposed side edge portions, located inward of the other of the superimposed side edge portions, forming an inner plate portion, the other of the superimposed side edge portions forming an outer plate portion, and then welding a weld bead through the thickness of one of the inner and outer plate portions to fuse to the other plate portion.

Heat exchanger and method of manufacturing same

A heat exchanger has a core case, at least one fin case disposed in the core case, and pair of upper and lower fins disposed in the fin case. The fin case has an inlet part, an outlet part, and a middle part disposed between the inlet and outlet parts. Each of the upper and lower fins has top and bottom portions. The upper and lower fins are disposed within the fin case so that the upper and lower fins are not in contact with each other at the inlet and outlet parts of the fin case and so that the bottom portions of the upper fin are in contact with respective ones of the top portions of the lower fin at the middle part of the fin case.

Heat exchanger

An exhaust heat recovery device includes a multi-piece, chamber-shaped branching member with a draw-molded first chamber half having one inlet for introducing exhaust gas, and a draw-molded second chamber half having two outlets for discharging the exhaust gas. The draw-molded first and second chamber halves are integrally connected together to form a single chamber. A first flow channel extends from one of the two outlets of the branching member for circulating the exhaust gas. A heat exchanger is provided to the first flow channel for recovering potential heat of the exhaust gas. A second flow channel extends from the other one of the two outlets of the branching member for circulating the exhaust gas while bypassing the heat exchanger. A valve chamber houses a valve configured to open and close an outlet of the second flow channel.

Exhaust heat recovery device

An exhaust heat recovery apparatus includes a joining section extending from a downstream end portion of a second flow passage section to a first flow passage section. The joining section has a communication port formed proximate a valve shaft for directing an exhaust gas from the second flow passage section into a housing section. A valve includes a first valve body supported by the valve shaft for closing a downstream end portion of the first flow passage section, and a second valve body extending from the first valve body for closing the communication port. The first valve body and the second valve body are disposed circumferentially of the valve shaft. The second valve body has an arc-shape having a center provided by the valve shaft.

Exhaust heat recovery apparatus

A lightweight exhaust component cover having a small number of components is disclosed. In the exhaust component cover, an internal plate is formed by bending part of a single plate at both ends, and the internal plate is joined to the inside surface of an external plate.

Exhaust component cover

An assembly for fitting together multiple exhaust pipes in a multi-cylinder engine into a single unit is provided. The assembly includes a cap and a choke pipe connected to the cap. The cap includes a surface with multiple sockets protruding from the surface in a direction opposite to the choke pipe whereby the sockets engage the exhaust pipes. The cap also includes a skirt, which surrounds a perimeter of the surface. The skirt extends from the surface in a direction toward the choke pipe. An internal surface of the sockets, an internal surface of the skirt and an internal surface of the choke pipe are linearly arranged with respect to each other.

Assembly for fitting together exhaust pipes in multi-cylinder engine

A double exhaust pipe for an engine includes an inner pipe shell, and an outer pipe shell in which the inner pipe shell is accommodated. The inner pipe shell is secured at one end thereof to the outer pipe shell and slidably fitted at the other end thereof to an inner peripheral surface of the outer pipe shell. A heat-insulating space is provided between the inner and outer pipe shells to extend from the one end to the other end of the inner pipe shell. In this double exhaust pipe, the inner pipe shell has a bulged portion formed at the other end thereof. The bulged portion has a spherical outer surface slidably and oscillatably fitted to an inner peripheral surface of the outer pipe shell. Thus, even if the free end of the inner pipe shell is inclined upon thermal elongation of the inner pipe shell, the bulged portion at the free end can always be smoothly slipped on the inner peripheral surface of the outer pipe shell.
