In a related-art composite scintillator in which pores in a porous scintillator are filled with an absorbing member or the like, as the ratio between the structural period of the composite and the thickness in an optical waveguide direction becomes smaller, almost all light is absorbed, and, in some cases, it is difficult to obtain a sufficient light amount for forming an adequate image. Provided is a scintillator including multiple first phases having directionality in a direction connecting two surfaces thereof which are not located on same surface and a second phase positioned around the first phases, in which each of the multiple first phases is in the shape of a column, and an absorbing portion is provided in part of one of the two kinds of phases, which has a lower refractive index.

A scintillator crystal includes a plurality of first crystal phases, and a second crystal phase covering respective side surfaces of the first crystal phases. Each of the plurality of first crystal phases is a columnar crystal that includes a perovskite type oxide material containing both Gd and Tb, and emits light by being excited by radiation. The second crystal phase includes alumina. Scintillator crystal and radiation detector using the same

A method is provided for manufacturing a scintillator panel including a substrate and a scintillator layer containing a plurality of crystals formed by depositing a scintillator material on a deposition surface of the substrate. The method includes depositing the scintillator material on the deposition surface of the substrate such that the scintillator material incidents on the deposition surface obliquely with respect to the normal to the deposition surface, and varying the angle between a reference direction on the deposition surface and a projected incident direction that is obtained by projecting the direction of the scintillator material incident onto the deposition surface. In the vapor deposition, the amount of the scintillator material deposited on the deposition surface changes according to the angle between the projected incident direction and the reference direction.

The present invention relates to an X-ray imaging apparatus including an X-ray source, a grating that divides diverging X-rays irradiated from the X-ray source, and a detector that detects X-rays which are divided by the grating and pass through a sample. The grating includes a plurality of transparent objects which pass the diverging X-rays and a plurality of opaque objects that shield the diverging X-rays. Provided is a radiation detecting element, including: needle crystal scintillators and a protruding pattern in which: one end of the needle crystal scintillators is in contact with of upper surfaces of the multiple protrusions; a gap corresponding to a gap between the multiple protrusions is provided between portions of the needle crystal scintillators in contact with the upper surfaces of the multiple protrusions; and a number of the needle crystal scintillators in contact with one of the upper surfaces is 5 or less. Conventionally, since the needle crystals exhibit a state of a polycrystalline film in an early stage of vapor deposition, and light also spreads in a horizontal direction, the light received by a photodetector portion and the spatial resolution was lower than ideal values. The present invention enables the deviating region to be the ideal state in an early stage of growth.

Radiation detecting element

Improvement in luminescence intensity is demanded from a scintillator material. The present invention provides a new scintillator material by adding a specific element selected from thallium and indium to a material having a basic composition represented by an alkali element:copper:a halogen element=3:2:5.
