A widthwise one half portion of a core section is constituted by a first section formed by stacking a plurality of first elements having first and second linear channels and inside them and fins, and a widthwise other half portion thereof is similarly constituted by a second section formed by stacking a plurality of second elements respectively having U-shaped channels inside them and fins. The number of times the refrigerant fed into a thicknesswise one half portion on an inlet tank side of the first section is turned back in an opposite direction concerning a longitudinal direction of the first linear channels inside this thicknesswise one half portion is made more numerous than the number of times the refrigerant fed into a thicknesswise other half portion on an outlet tank side of the first section is turned back in the opposite direction concerning the longitudinal direction of the second linear channels inside this thicknesswise other half portion.

Stacked-type evaporator

The condenser assembly structure is disclosed. The opening of the outgoing pipe is positioned below the upper openings of the heat transfer tubes in the inner space of the upper header pipe. Cutouts are formed in the upper ends of heat transfer tubes, which are located within an upper header pipe. A lubricant mixed in a refrigerant is introduced from the inside of the upper header pipe into the heat transfer tubes by way of the cutouts. The outgoing pipe defining is attached to the lower header pipe at a position close to its end. A total passage area of first heat transfer tubes through which the refrigerant flows downward is larger than that of second heat transfer tubes through which the refrigerant flows upward. The total passage area of the second heat transfer tubes is smaller than that of third heat transfer tubes through which the refrigerant flows downward.

Condenser assembly structure

An evaporator for an automotive air conditioner includes first to fourth tank passages connected to a core to flow refrigerant in the order of the first tank passage, the core, the second tank passage, the third tank passage, the core and the fourth tank passage. A choke portion is installed in the fourth tank passage to restrict the flow rate at a part of refrigerant passages of the core. This evaporator is improved in cooling capacity and in capacity for reducing noises.

Evaporator of automotive air-conditioner

A stack type evaporator for use in an automotive air conditioner comprises generally a first mass which includes first heat exchanging elements, each first heat exchanging element having mutually independent first and second passages; and a second mass which includes second heat exchanging elements, each second heat exchanging element having a generally U-shaped third passage which has first and second ends. The second mass is arranged beside the first mass in such a manner that the first and second heat exchanging elements are aligned on a common axis. An inlet tank passage connects to upper ends of the first passages. An upstream tank passage connects to lower ends of the first passages and the first ends of the third passages. A downstream tank passage connects to lower ends of the second passages and the second ends of the third passages. An outlet tank passage connects to upper ends of the second passages. An inlet pipe connects to the inlet tank passage. An outlet pipe is connected to the outlet tank passage.
