A support assembly for a sliding door includes an elongated track providing a track portion of generally inverted U-shaped cross section with spaced vertical walls. A wheeled guide rides in this track portion and includes a mounting member and a body member of generally inverted L-shaped configuration. The vertical leg is secured to a door and extends upwardly therefrom; and the horizontal leg extends horizontally above the door. A pair of wheels is rotatably mounted on the horizontal leg for rotation about axes perpendicular to the horizontal leg and their peripheral portions extend beyond the opposite ends of the horizontal portion. The axes of the wheels are oriented on an imaginary line extending at an angle of at least 30.degree. to the central axis of the horizontal leg, and the circumferential portions of the wheels rotatably bear on the vertical walls of the track.

Twin wheel guide for sliding doors

A frame assembly for fastening a stile onto a door panel comprises an edge frame member and a spring retainer. The edge frame member has a door panel channel which receives a door panel and a retainer channel which receives a retainer. The retainer channel has a heel and a shoulder projecting inwardly into the channel from opposite walls. The edge frame member also has a support edge which faces the door panel channel. The retainer has a U-shaped mounting end which snaps into the retainer channel, engaging the heel and the flange. A resilient deflection arm extends out of the channel away from the mounting end, contacts the supporting edge and bends outward into the door panel channel so that when a door panel is pressed into the door panel channel, it is resiliently engaged by the deflection arm which retains it in the door panel channel. A tongue on the mounting end locks into place behind the shoulder in the retainer channel to hold the retainer in the retainer channel.

Panel door frame assembly

A necktie storage rack has an elongated U-shaped hosuing mounted horizontally. An elongated slide with an external shape complementary to the inside of the housing can slide longitudinally in the housing from a retracted position essentially completely within the housing to an extended position with about half of the slide extending forwardly from the housing. Three posts extend downwardly from the slide and a wheel is rotatably mounted on each of the posts. The wheels are designed to elastically snap onto the posts. A number of radially extending legs on the wheel are used for hanging neckties. The entire assembly can be fabricated of injection molded plastic and connected together without any fasteners except screws for supporting the tie rack in a closet. The back of the housing can be secured to a wall and a forward portion of the housing suspended from a closet hanger bar by a pair of side-by-side clamps fastened together by a single screw.

Display or storage rack for neckties and the like

An integral plastics body mounted on a corner connector for a door can serve as either a hanger or guide. As a hanger, the assembly supports the weight of a door for sliding along a horizontal overhead track having a downwardly extending L-shaped limb. If used as a guide with such a track, the plastics body can move vertically relative to the corner connector. Rigid posts extend upwardly from the body for encompassing opposite sides of the foot of the L-shaped limb on the track. A flexible finger extending upwardly from the body has a hook that fits over the top of the foot on the L-shaped limb for safely latching the plastics body to the track, thereby preventing toppling of the door. A tab on the finger permits it to be manually flexed to withdraw the hook from over the foot and release the plastics body from the track.

Sliding door top guide or hanger

A wheel retainer prevents a wheel of a sliding or bypass door from jumping off of the floor track on which the wheel rolls. Portions are provided on the lower portion of the retainer for slidably engaging a downwardly facing portion of the track for inhibiting upward movement of the retainer from the track. Preferably this in the form of an L-shaped hook having a base wider than the opening of a dovetail slot in the track and a neck narrower than the opening of the slot. The retainer can then be installed only by pivoting the retainer relative to the track for inserting the hook. The retainer also has portions for engaging an upper portion of the wheel to prevent it from being lifted from the track. The preferred embodiment is a D-shape with an arcuate portion over the top of the wheel and barbs that prevent the retainer from accidentally being dislodged from the wheel.

Sliding door wheel retainer

Hardware for a bifold door includes stiles and rails fittable along the edges of a flat panel to form a door and four identical corner blocks for interconnecting the stiles and rails. Each corner block is generally rectangular and fits into a U-shaped channel in an adjacent stile and the U-shaped channel in an adjacent rail. A single hole extends through the block parallel to the stile and closer to one edge of the block than the opposite edge for receiving either a pivot or a guide, depending on the block's location on the assembled door. An orientation indicating marker on the exposed face of the block permits the four blocks to be identically oriented. When assembled to form a pair of doors, pivots are inserted into the holes in one of the pair of doors further from the edge of the door and guides are inserted into the holes nearer the edge of the other door to provide lead-off for smooth closing of the doors.

Pivot block for bifold doors

A panel door comprising framing members, corner connectors and a door panel is disclosed. The framing members comprise a side wall and spaced apart first and second walls extending generally normal to the side wall. The first and second walls form a channel. The framing member comprises a deflection arm which is deflected by and which generates a return force against a door panel having an edge inserted into the front channel. Preferred framing members have a generally 'E' shaped cross section and comprise a side wall and spaced apart front, intermediate and rear walls, the front and intermediate walls form a front channel and the intermediate wall comprises a deflection arm. The deflection arm of preferred stiles extends from a pivot position between the edges of the intermediate wall toward the front and side walls. The deflection arm of preferred rails is bent at a position between its edges and extends from the bend away from the side wall and toward the plane of the front wall.

Hardware for panel doors

A pair of free linkages are disposed in a door latch housing between the housing, the latch bolt, and the latch bolt actuating buttons. Preferably, each linkage comprises a toggle hinge having first and second sides joined by a pivotable connection in a one piece polypropylene construction. The sides of the hinge taper approaching the pivotable connection so the pivotable connection is substantially thinner than the first and second sides. The taper of the first and second sides differs in alternating fashion across the pivotable connection to form a bearing surface alternately on one side of the pivotable connection and the other. Responsive to the movement of a privacy button to its latched position, movement of one of the actuating buttons is prevented without preventing movement of the other actuating button. Responsive to movement of the other actuating button, the privacy button returns to its unlatched position.
