The present invention is directed to a method for production preformed fabrication casing or associated parts intended to generate fragments initiated by the explosive of contained warhead charges. Molded parts having fragmentation bodies () embedded therein are produced by a two-stage powder compaction method followed by sintering together the compacted powder metal. The method described in the present invention defines how in an initial stage the fragmentation bodies () are fixed in position using a fixture () after which the bodies are covered with powder metal that is then compacted until the powder forms a single molded part () after which the fixture is replaced with a secondary quantity of powder that is also compacted to form a self-supporting unit () together with the first quantity of powder.

Method of producing warheads containing explosives

A method for firing explosive-filled, fragmentation shells () that disperse fragments on the pre-programmed detonation of their own explosive () so as to reduce the risk of accidental injury to unprotected personnel and damage to materiel, which at the moment of firing are undeservedly situated between the firing weapon and the target is provided. Also provided are shells () produced or modified according to the method.

The invention relates to a warhead comprising a first and a second part, the parts being arranged relative to one another along a longitudinal axis, the first part comprising a first explosive section, a casing, and a plurality of projectiles enclosed in the casing. The second part comprises an element designed to control the working of the warhead as a function of a control signal. The fact that the functioning of the warhead can be controlled means that the warhead can defeat a plurality of different targets, which makes the warhead versatile.

The invention relates to a method for increasing the range of shells () charged with an explosive substance and other types of shell, which function as carriers of the one or other type of active payload. The method according to the invention thus provides an opportunity for increasing the range of fire of most types of artillery piece by increasing the muzzle velocity and the gliding flight capability of shells or projectiles fired from them, but without the need to increase the energy content in the propellant charges utilized for firing the shells or the projectiles concerned. The novelty proposed in accordance with the invention instead represents a radical modification to the design of the shell () utilized in conjunction therewith. The invention also relates to a shell charged with an explosive substance or provided with some other active payload which has been given a long range.

Method of increasing the range of a subcalibre shell and subcalibre shells with a long range

An explosive charge () can be equipped with two liners () that can be attached to one another. The primary liner () is so devised that when choosing a first choice () of being able to work independently and by employing a symmetrical form achieving a forward-aimed Shaped Charge Warhead (SCW) effect upon explosive charge initiation by means of the material () indicated for the primary liner. A secondary liner () is devised with a second choice () to be able to work together with the primary liner and together cause an asymmetric form that distributes the material () from the liners at different velocities to thereby cause a forward-directed fragmentation effect. The ammunition unit () can, thus, be designed or prepared for two different combat cases in a technologically simple and unambiguous manner.

Device adjacent to an explosive charge with at least two liners

The material or fragment discharge is controlled by means of a device () in connection to the triggering, such as by means of an initiation charge (), of the main charge () in the ammunition unit (). The liner is devised as being exposable for effect from the explosive charge or charges () that are devised as being able to be initiated upon or shortly prior to the triggering of the main charge. The explosive charge achieves, upon initiation a pre-deformation of the liner () prior to the liner being affected by the triggering of the main charge for the material or fragment discharge The fragment forms can be rendered more effective in relation to design solution known by prior art by means of the choice explosive charge form and placement.
