The invention concerns a device for separating fluid particles from a gas flow, in particular from a crankcase gas flow of an internal combustion engine. A valve is provided to allow a distribution of the gas flow to at least two cyclones depending on the volumetric flow. The valve consists of a cylinder through which the gas can flow. Inside the cylinder is a piston. This piston is designed inside the cylinder with a clearance fit or provided with one or several boreholes. In case of a low gas flow and because of the tolerances or boreholes, this gas flow will be directed around the cylinder to a first cyclone. When exceeding a certain volumetric flow the piston moves inside the cylinder and opens at least one more cyclone for the gas flow to flow through.

Device for separating fluid particles from a gas flow leaking from a crankcase

Apparatus for separating oil from crankcase ventilation gases of an internal combustion engine having at least two oil separators in the form of cyclones connected in parallel and traversed by the crankcase ventilation gases. The apparatus is equipped with a control valve that divides the volumetric flow of the crankcase ventilation gases into at least two subflows, depending on the magnitude of the volumetric flow, and conducts the subflows to the at least two oil separators. A control piston releases or blocks access of the gases to additional cyclones depending on the dynamic pressure of the crankcase gas.

Apparatus for controlling cyclone separators

A cyclone separator including an initial cyclone arrangement () arranged first in relation to a flow direction () through the separator; a second cyclone arrangement () connected in series with the initial cyclone arrangement; a bypass channel () bypassing the second cyclone arrangement (), and a volumetric flow controlled valve device () for selectively directing a partial stream () through the bypass channel ().

Cyclone separator

A cylinder head cover, particularly for covering a cylinder head of an internal combustion engine, having a plurality of functional elements such as an oil filling connection and at least one oil separation device mounted thereon. The cylinder head cover is formed by a bottom shell and a top shell, with the functional elements each being formed from two segments. One segment is integrally arranged on the bottom shell, and the second segment is integrally arranged on the top shell. The two shells are interconnected by communicating sealing contours. Essential functional parts of the oil separation device are provided on the bottom shell and on the top shell. Preferably the functional elements include a cyclone which separates entrained oil from gases in the cylinder head cover and includes a cup arranged on the bottom shell and an immersion tube arranged on the top shell.

Cylinder head cover

A centrifugal separator for separating oil from a gas stream, particularly for venting the crankcase of an internal combustion engine, having a housing () in which the flow guiding means are arranged. The flow guiding means are connected to a drive shaft (). A gas inlet () opens into the housing (), and a gas outlet () and an oil outlet () lead out of the housing (). An easily produced and functionally reliable arrangement is obtained if the housing () is non-rotatably mounted and an impeller () with blades () that produce a centrifugal flow is disposed in the housing () such that it is rotatable about the longitudinal axis () of the drive shaft ().

Centrifugal separator

A pressure control valve with a pressurized membrane ( ) for closing and opening a gas passage ( ) in which a valve chamber ( ) pressurized with an ambient pressure (P ) is located on the side of membrane ( ) that is opposite the gas passage ( ) to be closed and opened. The pressure control valve ( ) is arranged in such a way that the exit of the gas passage ( ) leads directly into a volume with ambient pressure (P ). The membrane ( ) includes a ventilation hole ( ) through which the valve chamber ( ) is directly pressurized with ambient pressure (P ).
