A cordless aw is provided with regenerative braking means that increases the number of repeated cuttings the saw is able to perform (x) per full discharge cycle of the battery pack, as compared to the number of repeated cuttings achievable by the same saw not employing a regenerative braking means (y) per full discharge cycle of the battery pack, such that x/y is approximately at least one of the following: i) 1.1 when cutting a Pressure-Treated (PT) lumber workpiece having a cross-sectional size of approximately 89 mm×89 mm±2 mm, ii) 1.15 when cutting a Spruce Pine Fir (SPF) lumber workpiece having a cross-sectional size of approximately 38 mm×89 mm±2 mm, or iii) 1.25 when cutting Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) workpiece having a thickness of approximately 19 mm±1 mm and a width of approximately 76 mm±2 mm.

Cordless saw having improved cuts per battery charge

A miter saw has a base having a detent notch, a table rotatably connectable to the base, a pivoting assembly connected to the table, and a saw assembly supported by the pivoting assembly. The saw assembly has a blade movable downwardly for a cutting operation. A locking mechanism is disposed on the table. The locking mechanism is movable between an unlocked position and a locked position for selectively unlocking and locking the table for rotational movement relative to the base about the miter axis. The locking mechanism has a lock lever rotatably connected to the table. The lock lever has a handle for moving locking mechanism between the locked and unlocked positions. The saw also has a miter detent assembly for selectively engaging and disengaging the detent notch.

Miter saw

A miter saw has a base assembly, a table rotatably disposed on the base assembly, a support section rotatably connected to the table, a guide bar fixedly attached to and extending forwardly from the support section, and a saw assembly sliding along the guide bar. The saw assembly is pivotable downwardly for cutting a workpiece disposed on the table. A handle is disposed adjacent to a forward end of the guide bar. The handle is movable between a first position for fixing a rotational position of the support section relative to the table, and a second position for allowing rotational movement of the support section relative to the table.

A miter saw is provided. The miter saw includes a table for supporting a workpiece; a fence located on the table; and a beveling arm for supporting a saw blade, the fence operatively connected to the arm to move the fence when the blade is beveled so that the blade does not contact the fence when the blade is moved toward the table. A method of locating a workpiece near a saw blade is provided. The method may include moving an adjustable section of fence near a path the saw blade will travel by beveling the saw blade; and moving a workpiece to contact the fence near the saw blade path.

Method and apparatus for automatically adjusting a miter saw fence

A saw horse combination includes two saw horses. Each saw horse has a beam, first and second brackets disposed respectively at the ends of the beam, and legs pivotably attached to the brackets for supporting the beam. A locking mechanism is also provided for connecting the first and second horses. The locking mechanism includes a first latch movably connected to a bracket of the first saw horse, and a second latch movably connected to a bracket of the second saw horse. These latches are movable between a first position where the latches do not engage and a second position where the latches engage.

A power tool with a base assembly, and a table supported by the base assembly, where the table has a workpiece supporting surface. A saw assembly is pivotably supported by the table via a trunnion assembly. The table includes a post having a first curved surface having a first radius. The trunnion has a first surface contacting the first curved surface. The trunnion is movable along the first curved surface. The first radius is larger than the distance between the first surface and the workpiece supporting surface.
