The invention concerns a motor powered saw with a saw chain () and a guide bar (), the rear portion of which is covered by a side cover () and during operation clamped with a certain clamping force between the side cover and a counter support on that side of the guide bar which is turned towards the motor, tensioning elements being provided for tensioning the saw chain by displacing the guide bar forwards, when the guide bar has been loosened by easing the clamping force, and elements for securing the guide bar in a new position. The characteristic features of the invention are that a rotation element () is mounted or mountable on the exterior of the side cover for easing said clamping force by rotating the rotating element a first angle of rotation; for activating said tensioning elements by continued rotation of the rotation element a further, second angle of rotation, said tensioning elements comprising a guide bar displacer () for displacing the guide bar forwards to anew position for tensioning the chain; and for reclamping the guide bar, but now in the new position, by returning the rotation element to its starting position.

Chain saw with a tensioning arrangement

A portable, combustion engine powered cutting or sawing machine comprises a rear part ( ) with a motor housing ( ) with a combustion engine ( ), an engine block ( ) with a crank house, and a front part ( ) with an annular blade ( ) and a blade holder ( ). The blade is provided in/or adjacent to a center blade ( ) of the machine. The engine block forms a central body in the machine, including portions of said body on both sides of said center plane, and the blade holder comprises a blade holder chassis ( ), which is provided substantially on a first side of said center plane. The blade holder chassis is fixedly connected on one hand with the portion of the engine block, which is located on said first side of the center blade, and on the other hand with a portion which is located on a second, opposite side of the center plane.

Portable, combustion engine powered cutting or sawing machine

The invention relates to an apparatus in an engine-driven machine having a tool carrier for a rotary tool and having a splinter shield cover (20) for the tool, which cover houses a section of the tool and has a through-running fixture hole (27) for the cover in a bearing side wall. What distinguishes the invention is that the apparatus comprises clamping devices (79) on the inside of the side wall, that the side wall of the cover is clamped between the clamping devices and the tool carrier (5), and that the first and second locking devices (79, 78) are arranged on the one side of the side wall up to the fixture hole, which locking devices, in mutual interaction and under the influence of the clamping force, prevent the cover from rotating about the center of rotation (31) of the tool, due to normally occurring stresses whilst the machine is in use, when the side walls of the cover are clamped between the clamping devices and the tool carrier, but which allow rotation of the cover with manual force applied to the cover for graduated, indexed adjustment of the cover into desired, indexed rotational positions relative to the tool carrier, the clamping force being herein surmounted.
