The disclosure relates to a coil () comprising: a multi-part conductor () having a long extension (in relation to its cross-section), the multi-part conductor comprising two or more conductors (A,B) being electrically insulated from each other, wherein, in a cross-section of the multi-part conductor (), at least two of said two or more conductors (A,B) are arranged adjacent to each other in the direction of the central axis (), wherein said multi-part conductor () is wound around the central axis () in more than one circumferential turn, such that a first portion () of the multi-part conductor () is arranged adjacent to a second portion () of the multi-part conductor () in the direction of the central axis (), and wherein said adjacent arrangement of said two or more conductors (A,B) is the same in relation to each other and in relation to the direction of a central axis () of the coil () for each circumferential turn.

Coil

The present invention relates to a coil () for an inductor (), comprised by metal wire () wound circular around a centre axis (C), wherein the wire has an electrically insulating layer () insulating each turn of the wire in the winding from neighbouring turns, the shape of the complete winding, building up the coil (), is substantially toroidal having a substantially elliptic cross section, wherein the thermal heat conductivity is above 1 W/m*K more preferably above 1.2 and most preferably above 1.5. The invention further relates to a magnetic core () suitable for an inductor (), where in the core is made of a soft magnetic composite material made of metallic particles and a binder material, said particles are in the range of 1 &#x3bc;m-1000 &#x3bc;m, particles that are larger than 150 &#x3bc;m are coated with a ceramic surface to provide particle to particle electrical insulation, wherein the volume of magnetic, metallic particles to total core volume is 0.5-0.9. The invention still further relates to an inductor () being a combination of said coil () and core (), wherein the substantially all of said particles in the core are magnetically aligned with the magnetic field of the coil. The invention still further relates to the manufacturing methods of such a coil () and core ().

Optimal inductor

The invention relates to an inductor () having a coil () and a core (), wherein the core () is made of a Soft Magnetic Composite (SMC), the coil () is composed of a annularly wound electrical conductor, the coil () is substantially integrated into said core () so that the core () material acts as a thermal conductor having thermal conductivity above 1.5 W/m*K more preferably 2 W/m*K most preferably 3 W/m*K, conducting heat from said coil (), wherein the inductor () is in thermal connection with at least one thermal connecting fixture (-), wherein said at least one thermal connecting fixture (-) is adapted to be connected to a first external heat receiver () so as to conduct heat from the inductor to said first external heat receiver ().

Thermal management system for SMC inductors

The disclosure relates to a method and an apparatus for sensing and indicating permanent state deviations via detection of temporary inner material oscillations in real time in parts of importance for hardware design and construction, within existing production equipment, e.g. machinery, and/or monitoring of previously built-up infrastructure. One or more at least approximately 20 &#x3bc;m thick amorphous or nanocrystalline band elements with high permeability and relatively high magnetostriction are applied to a pertinent part, the band element or elements, respectively, being at least partially surrounded by a multi-turn coil, such atomic movements (oscillations) as occur in any optional such state deviation in the part being transferred to the band element/elements. The deviation either gives rise to a clearly measurable and detectable magnetic flow change (dB/dt) in the coil in proportion to said atomic movements, or to a similarly measurable and detectable inductance change in the coil/coils.
