An adverse effect of air flows occurring near the nozzle line with high print duty is reliably avoided by appropriately dividing and allocating the print data to a plurality of ink ejection nozzle lines. When the print head is scanning in a forward direction, a combination of a magenta ink nozzle line and a yellow ink nozzle line that do not adjoin each other is mainly used. When the print head is scanning in a backward direction, another combination of a magenta ink nozzle line and a yellow ink nozzle line that do not adjoin each other is mainly used.

Ink jet printing apparatus and ink jet printing method

An inkjet recording head includes a recording-element substrate having arranged therein multiple sets of nozzles that discharge ink, energy-generating elements that generate energy used for discharging the ink, and supply ports that supply the ink to the nozzles; and a sealant disposed around the recording-element substrate. The supply ports include a first supply port disposed near a first edge of the recording-element substrate and a second supply port disposed near a second edge of the recording-element substrate, the second edge being opposite to the first edge as viewed in the arrangement direction of the multiple sets. As viewed in the arrangement direction, a distance between the second edge and the second supply port is shorter than a distance between the first edge and the first supply port, and a volume of the sealant near the second edge is smaller than a volume of the sealant near the first edge.

Inkjet recording head

A liquid-discharge recording head includes large nozzles for discharging large liquid drops and medium and small nozzles for discharging medium and small liquid drops that are smaller than the large liquid drops. The large nozzles are arranged on one side of an ink-supply opening and the medium and small nozzles are arranged on the other side of the ink-supply opening. The number of large nozzles is greater than the number of medium and small nozzles, and the liquid-discharge recording head performs high-speed printing using the large nozzles, high-speed photo printing using the medium and small nozzles, and high-quality photo printing using the small nozzles.

Liquid-discharge recording head

A compact liquid ejection recording head capable of forming high-quality images at high speed includes large nozzles for ejecting large droplets, medium nozzles for ejecting medium droplets, and small nozzles for ejecting small droplets. The large nozzles are arranged on one side of an ink supply port, while the small nozzles and the medium nozzles are arranged on the other side of the ink supply port. The number of the small nozzles is larger than that of the medium nozzles, and that of the large nozzles. This allows high-quality and high-speed printing using the small nozzles, high-speed photo printing using the medium and small nozzles, and high-speed printing using the large nozzles.

Liquid ejection recording head

An ink jet recording apparatus and an ink jet recording method to prevent both of adjacent ejection orifice groups from operating at high duties. The method includes distributing image data such that the ejection duty of one of the adjacent ejection orifice groups is lower than a predetermined threshold in one scan and the ejection duty of the other ejection orifice group is lower than the predetermined threshold in another scan.

Liquid discharge head, and head cartridge and image forming apparatus using such liquid discharge head

An ink jet recording head includes a plurality of recording element substrates, a supply port, a supporting member for supporting the recording element substrates, an electric contact substrate fixed to the supporting member, and an electric wiring tape connected to the recording element substrates and to the electric contact substrate. The electric contact substrate has a plurality of input terminals that are electrically connected to recording elements of the recording element substrates via the electric wiring tape, and are also electrically connected to terminals of a recording apparatus body. The electric contact substrate is wider than the electric wiring tape. If m equals the maximum number of input terminals arranged in the lateral direction on the electric contact substrate, and n equals the maximum number of input terminals arranged in the longitudinal direction on the electric contact substrate, then m>n.

Ink jet recording head and ink jet recording apparatus

A method for producing a liquid discharge head provided with a head main body including plural energy generating elements for generating energy for discharging liquid as a flying liquid droplet, and plural liquid paths in which the energy generating elements are respectively provided, and an orifice plate adjoined to the head main body and provided with plural discharge ports respectively communicating with the liquid paths and plural independent projections formed around the discharge ports and respectively corresponding to the discharge ports so as to enter into the liquid paths and to engage therewith. The method includes steps of forming the plural projections and the discharge ports while a continuous resinous film is transported; separating the film in a continuous manner in a predetermined size including the portion on which the discharge ports are formed, thereby preparing the orifice plate; and adjoining the orifice plate to the head main body.

Method of producing a liquid discharge head

A method for manufacturing a liquid discharge head comprises the steps of providing a head main body having liquid flow paths, and an aperture surface having flow path openings communicated with the flow paths; providing a discharge port plate having extrusions each on the circumference of an inside opening communicated with each of the discharge ports, being on the inner face on the side opposite to the discharge port surface provided with discharge ports for discharging liquid, and a base having a substantially flat surface. For this method, the discharge port plate is arranged in a state of these surfaces formed integrally to be in contact; bonding the aperture surface and the inner face to fit the extrusions into the flow path openings by pressing the head main body and the base in the direction of the head main body and the base approaching each other with the discharge port plate between them; and separating the base from other members. With the method of manufacture thus structure, the liquid discharge head presents an excellent discharge efficiency by the provision of the extrusions that enter the flow paths from the orifice plate. It also becomes possible to manufacture a highly reliable liquid discharge head by a simpler manufacturing apparatus in a shorter period of time at lower costs.

Liquid discharge head, method of manufacture therefor and liquid discharge recording apparatus

It is an object of the present invention to ensure a desired precision in positioning an orifice plate with respect to liquid flow paths of a head main body, so as to prevent a failure liquid discharge which will possibly be caused due to a problem involved in a process of forming the orifice holes. In detail, a head main body is formed on the lower wall thereof a plurality of heating elements, has a plurality of liquid flow paths formed by dividing an internal space with a plurality of liquid flow path walls and arranged in parallel relationship with one another. On either side of the plurality of the liquid flow paths there are formed two dummy liquid flow paths. An orifice plate is formed with a plurality of orifice holes arranged in parallel with one another for discharging ink. Further, on either side of the plurality of the orifice holes there are formed two projected portions so shaped that they are capable of engaging with the opening ends of the dummy liquid flow paths. Each of the projected portions is formed with a dummy orifice hole which is not used for discharging ink during recording operation. A desired positioning can be effected by engaging the projected portions of the orifice plate with the dummy liquid flow paths.

Liquid discharge head, method of manufacturing the liquid discharge head, and liquid discharge recording apparatus using the liquid discharge head

In a liquid discharge head having an orifice plate in which a plurality of discharge ports for discharging liquid droplets therethrough are arranged, and a head body provided with a plurality of flow paths communicating with the plurality of discharge ports, a liquid chamber for supplying liquid to the plurality of flow paths, and a plurality of energy generation elements disposed correspondingly to the plurality of flow paths and generating energy for discharging the liquid droplets, the orifice plate being joined to the joined surface of the head body in which the communication ports of the flow paths communicating with the discharge ports are disposed, the orifice plate is formed with wall-shaped convex portions protruding from the inner peripheral portions of the discharge ports and having at least a portion thereof entering from the communication ports into the flow paths, and the width of the wall-shaped convex portions is greater in the portions thereof parallel to the row direction in which the plurality of discharge ports are arranged than in the portions thereof orthogonal to the row direction.

Liquid discharge head and method of manufacturing the same

An ink absorber is housed inside a housing of an ink tank and is capable of retaining ink. The ink absorber has an outer surface equal to or corresponding to a shape of an internal surface of the housing and is made of a fiber material obtained by compressing a fiber body and thermally molding at least a surface thereof. An ink tank is comprised of the ink absorber and the housing. An ink jet cartridge is comprised of the ink tank and a print head. The ink absorber has an outer surface equal to or corresponding to a shape of an internal surface of the housing before being inserted into the housing. The ink absorber comprises a fiber material, and is formed by compressing a fiber body and thermally molding at least a surface thereof.

Absorber mounted in an ink tank and process for manufacturing this tank

An ink tank for storably receiving ink therein comprises a housing having an ink feeding port to allow ink to be storably received therein and fed through the ink feeding port, an ink absorbing member accommodated in the housing for retaining ink, the ink absorbing member being a porous block with a first surface facing the ink feeding port and having a three-dimensional net-shaped structure, and comprising a foamed block molded of a condensate of a compound having an amino group and a formaldehyde as base materials. The ink absorbing member is pressed toward the ink feeding port by pressing substantially an entire area of a second surface of the ink absorbing member opposite its first surface.

Ink tank with ink absorbing member

An ink tank includes a housing and an ink absorbing member accommodated in the housing. The ink absorbing member is constructed using a water jet cutter. The ink absorbing member is a thermosetting foamed block having a porous three-dimensional divergent circuit network; the foamed block is molded of a condensate comprising a compound having an amino group and a formaldehyde. The foamed block is formed for placement in the housing by actuating the water jet cutter and worked by actuating the water jet cutter to provide slits or holes in the ink absorbing member different from pores of the foamed block.
