A method for obtaining an improved transformer design for a power plant, including the steps of defining one or more critical temperatures (θ, θ, θ, θ) in the operation of the transformer, determining a limit (θ, θcontingency, θh, θ) for at least one of the critical temperatures and obtaining an adjusted design of the transformer by using a data set of transformer loading, the data set comprising the amount of time (H) at a specific load level (κ) for a specific ambient temperature (θ). The method further includes the step of producing a transformer having the adjusted values of the design parameters (Δθ, Δθ, R, x, y) and/or using a transformer having the adjusted values of the design parameters (Δθ, Δθ, R, x, y) in the power plant.

A subsea power module including: a tank having a tank wall provided with an outwardly protruding corrugation, a power device arranged in the tank, a dielectric liquid which fills the tank, for cooling the power device, a pump configured to circulate the dielectric liquid in the tank, wherein the pump has a pump inlet and a pump outlet, a duct arranged in the corrugation such that a chamber is formed between a tip of the corrugation and the duct, wherein the duct has a duct inlet connected to the pump outlet, and wherein the duct is provided with at least one duct outlet opening into the chamber, and a distancing structure configured to space apart an outer surface of the duct facing the tank wall and the tank wall in the corrugation, whereby gaps are formed between the duct and the tank wall in the corrugation, enabling dielectric liquid that has been discharged through the at least one duct outlet into the chamber to be squeezed out from the chamber and the corrugation, and flow towards the pump inlet.

A method of cooling a high voltage electromagnetic induction device is also provided. By using the option of operating fans with higher cooling rate, because of the less fans are operating, the predetermined cooling capacity can be reached with lower power consumption.

The present invention relates to a static electric induction apparatus () comprising a winding () including a plurality of winding units (), at least one first spacer element () arranged between the winding units () and including a first groove () defined in the surface thereof, and a sensor system for monitoring the temperature in the apparatus, wherein the sensor system comprises an elongated and flexible temperature sensing element () disposed in the first groove. The first groove () has a curved part that receives the flexible temperature sensing element which is wound at least one revolution in the first groove (). The first groove enters and exits the first spacer element in one and the same end of the first spacer element. The apparatus comprises an elongated second spacer element () extending in an axial direction on the outside of the winding (). The second spacer element () comprises an elongated second groove () arranged in communication with the first groove, and the flexible temperature sensing element () is disposed in the first and second grooves.

An arrangement for subsea cooling of a semiconductor module. The arrangement includes a tank. The tank is filled with a dielectric fluid. The arrangement includes at least one semiconductor module. The at least one semiconductor module is placed in the tank. Each at least one semiconductor module includes semiconductor submodules and is attached to a heat sink. The semiconductor submodules generate heat, thereby causing the dielectric fluid to circulate by natural convection. The heat sink includes a first part having a first thermal resistance from the semiconductor module to the dielectric fluid. The heat sink includes a second part having a second thermal resistance from the semiconductor module to the dielectric fluid. The second thermal resistance is higher than the first thermal resistance. The heat sink is oriented such that, when the arrangement is installed, the first part is configured to lie vertically higher than the second part.

Arrangement for subsea cooling of semiconductor modules

A static electric induction system is disclosed. The system includes a heat generating component, cooling fluid, a cooling duct along the heat generating component and a pumping system configured for driving the cooling fluid through the cooling duct, wherein the pumping system is configured for applying a varying flow rate over time of the cooling fluid in the cooling duct along a predetermined flow rate curve which is a function of time.

Arrangement for subsea housing of electric components and manufacturing of the same

An arrangement for cooling components of a subsea electric system including a tank filled with a dielectric fluid. The tank includes first and second sections. The arrangement includes one first electric component within the first section, and one second electric component within the second section. The arrangement includes a first heat exchanger located outside the tank and in fluid contact with the tank, and arranged during operation to be in thermal contact with sea water. The arrangement includes a pump arranged to force a flow of dielectric fluid through the first heat exchanger. Flow of dielectric fluid in the tank is by both natural and forced convection generated by the pump. The first electric component generates more heat than the second electric component. Within the first section the share of the flow by natural convection is greater than within the second section.

Arrangement for cooling components of a subsea electric system

A pressure compensated subsea electrical system and a pressure compensated subsea electrical system which has a housing filled with a dielectric liquid. The housing has a first housing portion and a second housing portion in pressure communication with each other. The first housing portion includes a transformer, and the second housing portion includes a power converter. The pressure compensated subsea electrical system includes a pressure compensator arranged to compensate pressure inside the housing. The pressure compensator is enabled to compensate pressure in both the first housing portion and the second housing portion.
