The invention provides an optical resin composition being transparent, having suitable adhesion and necessary impact absorption for protection of an image display device etc., not affecting constituent materials of a image display panel, and being excellent in reliability, and an optical resin material using the same. Disclosed is an optical resin composition containing (A) a first acrylate derivative that is a compound having one polymerizable unsaturated bond in its molecule, (B) a second acrylate derivative that is a compound having two or more polymerizable unsaturated bonds in its molecule, and (C) an acrylate derivative polymer, and an optical resin material produced by curing reaction of the optical resin composition.

Revolving rollers, each provided on an outer peripheral surface thereof with revolving roller grooves extending therearound, are caused to mesh with a rack rod thread of a central rack rod with an axial angle over a lead angle of the rack rod thread and arranged for rotation on a holder member to be twisted. The holder member is rotated round the rack rod by a motor to translate the rack rod. A large thrust can be generated while ensuring a high reliability since a high efficiency is achieved by realizing rolling contact in set points of mesh of the rack rod thread and the revolving roller grooves, points of mesh are made planar, and interference in other points than the points of mesh can be suppressed. Also, play can be restricted by assembling the revolving rollers to the rack rod thread while applying torque in a direction, in which the axial angle is increased.

There is provided a power steering system including an electric motor for generating a steering force in response to an command value, and a controller for generating the command value to the electric motor. Here, the controller generates the command value in correspondence with steering state of wheels, thereby controlling torque or rotation number of the electric motor.

The present invention provides a polymeric optical waveguide film whose core and clad are constituted from polymer materials and which is characterized in that a protective layer of a polymer material having resistance to solvent attack higher than that observed for the clad is arranged on at least one of the surface and back face of the waveguide film. The present invention thus permits the preparation of such a film, the clad of which is hardly damaged, which is excellent in the resistance to solvent attack and which never undergoes cracking even when it is bought into contact with a commonly used solvent such as acetone.

A method for preparing an optical device by dicing includes applying a dicing tape onto the back face of a substrate provided thereon with a large number of optical elements on the surface thereof and dicing the substrate from the surface side of the substrate using a blade to thus prepare individual optical devices and the method is characterized in that the dicing operation is conducted in several stages using a blade which can ensure a moderate autogenously blade-generating effect. An optical device prepared by the method includes a substrate and an optical element formed on the surface of the substrate and it is characterized in that the maximum size of the ruptures present on the back face of the substrate in the direction vertical to the cut surface is not more than 0.1 mm.

The present invention has an object of enhancing the tolerance of setup positioning error of an optical multiplexer/demultiplexer which uses a multi-mode optical waveguide. For this sake, the invention is designed to couple the multi-mode optical waveguide with a single-mode optical waveguide directly. A polymeric optical waveguide substrate includes a first region provided thereon with a polymer optical waveguide and an optical waveguide-free second region, the first and second regions being on the same substrate, wherein an adhesive layer is between the lowermost polymer layer constituting the optical waveguide in the first region and the substrate, and wherein a groove intrudes into the substrate at the boundary between the first and second regions. A method for preparing the waveguide substrate includes the steps of applying an adhesive layer onto the first region while the second region is free of any adhesive layer; applying a polymer onto the whole surface of the substrate to give a polymer layer for forming an optical waveguide following the formation of the adhesive layer; cutting the polymer layer at the boundary between the first and second regions; and peeling off or removing the polymer on the second region.

Optical waveguide and method for preparing the same

A graphic display method and apparatus including a plurality of virtual device coordinate systems independent of a coordinate system of a physical screen in which a graphic image to be displayed is independently drawn in a virtual device space of the corresponding virtual device coordinate system so as to map a specified area of each virtual device space onto the virtual screen at a specified position, thereby displaying a specified area of a virtual memory in a physical screen. Method and apparatus for display control

A nuclear reactor facility including a primary containment vessel, a reactor pressure vessel installed in the primary containment vessel and accommodating a reactor core in a lower part thereof, and a vertical cylindrical wall disposed in a lower part of the primary containment vessel around and spaced from the reactor pressure vessel so as to delimit an annular space therebetween. The vertical cylindrical wall has an upper end disposed at a position higher than an upper end of the reactor core and a diaphragm extends substantially horizontally between the upper end of the vertical cylindrical wall and an inner wall of the primary containment vessel for cooperating with the vertical cylindrical wall to separate a space in the primary containment vessel around the reactor pressure vessel into a pressure suppression chamber and a drywell which includes annular space. The pressure suppression chamber accommodates therein a pool of liquid coolant wherein a level of the liquid coolant of the pool is higher than the upper end of the reactor core. The vertical cylindrical wall has a plurality of vent passages having an upper part at the upper end of the vertical cylindrical wall and exposed to the drywell and a lower part exposed to the pool of the liquid coolant in the pressure suppression chamber. A submergence line and a channel member are also provided.

Nuclear power facilities

A container-outer-periphery pool in which water is stored is provided between a primary containment vessel and a reactor building, and outside of a pressure suppression pool. Consequently, the natural heat transfer capabilities of reactor facilities is enhanced, and the inherent safety of the reactor facilities is improved.
