A magnet covering member made of a soft steel plate covers an outer surface of a magnetized permanent magnet placed in a rotor core of a rotor. The magnet covering member is detached from the permanent magnet when the rotor is incorporated into a stator of an alternator during an alternator assembling process. Because of a soft magnetic characteristic of the magnet covering member, an outer magnetic field generated by the permanent magnet placed between adjacent claw poles of the rotor core makes a magnetic short-circuit, and a magnetic attracting phenomenon caused by such a magnetic field is thereby reduced. The soft magnetic characteristic of the magnet covering member also serves to support the rotor.

A vehicle alternator and a stator for the vehicle alternator are disclosed wherein a stator winding includes a plurality of base segments wound on slots of the stator, each of the base segments including a large segment and a small segment disposed in the same slots distanced from each other by one-pole pitch. The large and small segments have turning portions extending from one axial end of the stator to form coil ends, respectively, with the turning portions of the large and small segments being dislocated from each other in a circumferential direction of the stator core to provide a circumferential space to create a cooling wind flow path to pass cooling wind in a radial direction of the stator core.

Vehicle alternator and stator for vehicle alternator

An automotive alternator has a stator winding that is made up of a plurality of U-shaped conductor segments wound through slots in a stator core. Each of the U-shaped conductor segments is connected at one end thereof to an other end of one of the U-shaped conductor segments through a joint. Some of the joints are each elongated from tips of connected two of the conductor segments in an axial direction of the stator core to have a longitudinal sectional area much greater than a transverse sectional area of the conductor segments and function as radiator fins to dissipate heat from the stator winding.

Structure of automotive alternator

The stator of the vehicle-mounted alternator includes a stator core formed with a plurality of slots located along a circumferential direction thereof, and first and second multi-phase windings wound in the slots, the first and second multi-phase windings being spaced from each other by a predetermined electrical angle. An output of the first multi-phase winding is rectified by a first rectifier device, and an output of the second multi-phase winding is rectified by a second rectifier device. The second rectifier device is constituted by a plurality of switching devices. The vehicle-mounted alternator includes a control device to perform on/off control on the switching devices such that a phase angle difference between an output of the first rectifier device and an output of the second rectifier device is varied depending on a rotation speed of the stator.

Vehicle-mounted alternator

A Lundell type rotor core with a pair of side cores and a magnetic-pole cylindrical portion has a structure in which the magnetic-pole cylindrical portion is mated between both the side cores (also referred to as 'pole cores') in a radial direction at an outside of a field coil wound on a boss portion in the side cores. The magnetic-pole cylindrical portion is made of plural magnetic steel sheets laminated in the axis direction, and is easily deformed rather than both the side cores. The easy deformation characteristic of the magnetic-pole cylindrical portion prevents generation of a gap during the assembling process of the magnetic-pole cylindrical portion and the side cores. Without paying strict dimension control of the components for the rotor core, it is easily possible to prevent any generation of a gap between the side cores and the magnetic-pole cylindrical portion while assembling. It is thereby possible to prevent a deterioration of a magnetic flux flowing in the rotor core.

A vehicle-mounted electrical generating system has a first voltage system which operates from a high supply voltage and a second voltage system which operates from a low supply voltage that is substantially constant, and an electrical generator for supplying power to operate the first voltage system at a voltage determined by the level of field current of the generator, with the field current being derived from the low supply voltage of the second voltage system. The specifications of the field winding of the electrical generator can thereby be optimally established irrespective of the value of the high supply voltage.

A method for manufacturing rotary electric machine that has a stator winding to provide a stator winding that has a plurality of conductors wound one over another. The conductors are wound with left and right ends. Therefore, the stator winding on the stator core has an overlapped joined portion.

Rotary electric machine and method for manufacturing the same

A generator includes a case for accommodating a stator, a rotor and a fan. The case includes two end walls in an axial direction and a peripheral side wall. The case has plural axial opening portions which are provided in at least one of the two end walls and open approximately in the axial direction, and plural radial opening portions provided in the peripheral side wall. The fan is disposed at least at one axial end of the rotor to draw outside air through the axial opening portions and to discharge the drawn outside air through the radial opening portions. A cover member of the generator covers the axial opening portions from an outside of the case with clearances between the axial opening portions and the case. Accordingly, noise generated inside the case can be reflected by the cover member, and it can effectively reduce noise transmitted to an outside.

Generator mountable to vehicle

In an alternator, a voltage control device includes a control circuit IC chip, a radiating fin and a case. The radiating finhas a basethat is fixed to the IC chip and radiating portions. The radiating portions protrudes from the baseand have substantially U-shaped cross sections, so that tubular air passages are formed between the radiating portions and a fixed surface of the IC chip. Each radiating portion has a central trunk and alternating branches, thereby rows of air passages are formed by the central trunk and rows of branches.

Voltage control device for vehicular alternator

A rotary electric machine has a stator winding made of a plurality of segments. The segments comprises a plurality of regular segments regularly arranged to provide a part of the stator winding and irregular segments disposed to provide a remaining part of the stator winding. The regular segments are covered with a polyester-imide. The irregular segments are covered with a polyamide-imide that provides a higher insulation performance than the polyester-imide. Therefore, it is possible reduce an amount of the polyamide-imide to ensure an insulation relating to the irregular segments.

Rotary electric machine

A rotary electric machine has a stator winding. The stator winding has a plurality of conductors wound one over another. The conductors are wound with left and right ends. Therefore, the stator winding on the stator core has an overlapped joined portion. This arrangement allows a high ratio of the conductors in the slot and is easy to manufacture.

A brushless generator is composed of a front bracket, a rear bracket, a stator, a rotary shaft, a core, poles, a ring, a field core, a field winding bobbin, and a field winding. Air gaps are defined by facing surfaces between the field core and the core, between the poles and the stator, between one side of a pole and the field core, and between the core and another side pole. Magnetic coating made of magnetic particles and a binding material is applied to the surfaces which face the air gaps. A tensile strength of the magnetic coating is set smaller than a bonding strength of the same. Thus, in case that the surfaces to which the magnetic coating is applied is damaged by an external force, the magnetic coating does not peel but rather the breaking of the base material occurs.

Alternator

A vehicle AC generator includes a stator core, a stator winding and a rectifier unit. The stator winding is comprised of plural phase-windings, plurality of first, second and third connection segments. Each phase-winding is comprised of plural U-shaped conductor segments and a pair of inclined portions. Each pair of the phase-windings that generates AC voltages a 180-degree-electric-angle different from each other is connected by one of the first connection segments to form a series-connected phase-winding. The series-connected phase-windings are connected by the second connection segments to form a multiple-phase stator winding that is connected to the rectifier unit.

Vehicle AC generator

A larger-diameter fin is provided adjacent to a frame, while a smaller-diameter fin is provided adjacent to a protecting cover. The larger-diameter fin and the smaller-diameter fin are arranged parallel to each other in an axial direction with an intervening clearance so that their rectifying elements are disposed at opposite directions each other. The larger-diameter fin is offset outward in a radial direction. The smaller-diameter fin is offset inward in the radial direction. The protecting cover has an axial opening which introduces external air directly to the positive rectifying element. Furthermore, a radial ventilation passage is formed between the larger-diameter fin and the frame so as to pass the central position of the negative rectifying element. An opening, introducing external air directly, is formed at a radial-outer end of the radial ventilation passage.

Rectifying apparatus for an automotive AC generator

A flanged part of an insulating bobbin is formed with a first hook part for directing a lead wire of a field coil in a radially inward direction along an end surface of the flanged part, and a second hook part for directing the radially inwardly directed field coil in an axial direction. The lead wire of the field coil is arranged to extend in the radial direction from a coil-winding part of the field coil through the first hook part, and to extend in the axial direction through the second hook part.
