In one embodiment, a method includes receiving an unstructured data record and parsing the unstructured data record to determine a characterization of the unstructured data record. The characterization includes determination of: a number of fields, a length for the fields, and an order of the fields as stored in the unstructured data record. The method also includes obtaining a first key pair that includes a primary key-name associated with a first key-value and hashing at least the first key-value to obtain a hash value. In addition, the method includes updating the unstructured data record to include the hash value as an indexing key thereby creating a modified data record. Also, the method includes storing the modified data record in a structured database. Moreover, the method includes updating an index of the structured database to include an entry for the modified data record, the entry including the hash value.

Storing unstructured data in a structured framework

A computer-implemented method according to one embodiment includes receiving a request for a creation or expansion of a file within a predetermined volume of a system, determining that a first amount of available space within the predetermined volume is insufficient to allow the creation or expansion of the file within the predetermined volume of the system, expanding the first amount of available space within the predetermined volume to create a second amount of available space that is greater than the first amount of available space, in response to determining that the first amount of available space is insufficient, and implementing the creation or expansion of the file within the predetermined volume of the system, utilizing the second amount of available space within the predetermined volume.

Dynamically increasing available storage space in a storage volume

A mechanism is provided for collecting one or more performance metrics. A plurality of source code instructions is provided. The source code instructions include a plurality of macro calls. Each of the plurality of macro calls includes a plurality of predetermined parameters. A plurality of object code instructions corresponding to the plurality of source code instructions is executed. In response to receiving a signal identifying at least one of the plurality of macro calls contained in the source code instructions and identifying a desired level of granularity, performance metrics are collected using the identified macro call in accordance with the desired level of granularity.

Dynamic performance data collection in large computer servers

Embodiments of the disclosure relate to file merging based on file metadata. An exemplary embodiment concerns a system for merging two files that may comprise first and second data structures respectively associated with first and first files. Each data structure may include a starting address and an ending address of the associated file, and file attributes. The system may include a logic component for respectively referencing the starting address and ending address of a second file in the starting address and ending address of a first file, and a logic component for linking the last record in the first file with the first record of in the second file.
