Accounting for oscillations with drop ejection waveforms can include identifying a previous ejection waveform having a first plurality of parameters including a time interval from a final pulse of the previous ejection waveform. Accounting for oscillations with drop ejection waveforms can include determining a second plurality of parameters based on the first plurality of parameters, where the second plurality of parameters define a current ejection waveform that accounts for oscillations caused by the previous ejection waveform. Accounting for oscillations with drop ejection waveforms can include applying the current ejection waveform to cause an ejection nozzle of the printhead to generate a desired fluid drop.

A piezoelectric inkjet die stack includes a circuit die stacked on a substrate die, a piezoelectric actuator die stacked on the circuit die, and a cap die stacked on the piezoelectric actuator die. Each die in succession from the circuit die to the cap die is narrower than the previous die.

One example provides a printhead including a substrate and a fluidics structure attached to the substrate. The fluidics structure includes actuators for ejecting ink from the printhead. The printhead includes an integrated circuit die attached to the substrate. The integrated circuit die is for driving the actuators. The integrated circuit die is cooled by a coolant contacting the integrated circuit die and flowing through the substrate.

A piezoelectric inkjet die stack includes a printhead substrate die, a pedestal seated on the printhead substrate die, a fluidics die seated atop the pedestal, and integrated circuit (IC) dies seated on the printhead substrate die. The IC dies may be positioned substantially but not completely beneath the fluidics die and positioned on either side of the pedestal such that air gaps exist between a top surface of each IC die and a bottom surface of the fluidics die and between each IC die and the pedestal. The pedestal may include ink flow channels to allow ink flow between the fluidics die and the printhead substrate. A plurality of stand-offs may be implemented to help support the fluidics die above the IC dies.

A piezoelectric mechanism includes first and second electrodes and a thin film sheet of piezoelectric material. The second electrode is interdigitated in relation to the first electrode. The first and the second electrodes are embedded within the thin film sheet. The thin film sheet is polarized in a direction at least substantially perpendicular to a surface of the thin film sheet. The thin film sheet is to physically deform in a shear mode due to polarization of the thin film sheet at least substantially perpendicular to the surface of the thin film sheet, responsive to an electric field induced within the thin film sheet at least substantially parallel to the sheet via application of a voltage across the first and the second electrodes.

In an embodiment, a method of circulating fluid in a fluid ejection device includes generating compressive and expansive fluid displacements of different durations from a first actuator located asymmetrically within a fluidic channel between a first fluid feedhole and a nozzle while generating no fluid displacements from a second actuator located asymmetrically within the channel between the nozzle and a second fluid feedhole.

In one embodiment, a fluid ejector structure includes: a chamber for containing a fluid; a flexible membrane forming one wall of the chamber; a plurality of piezoelectric elements; a backing operatively connected to the piezoelectric elements such that an expansion and/or contraction of a piezoelectric element causes the piezoelectric element to bend; a rigid plate overlaying a center portion of the membrane; a post coupling the piezoelectric elements to the plate through the backing such that a movement of each piezoelectric element toward the chamber is transmitted to the plate through the post. The plate is configured to transmit movement of the post to the membrane in a rigid, or substantially rigid, piston-like manner.

An electrostatic liquid-ejection actuation mechanism includes a membrane, a frame, and one or more deformable beams. The frame has two sides and a number of cross members that are non-parallel to the two sides. The two sides and the cross members define one or more areas individually corresponding to one or more liquid chambers. The deformable beams are disposed between the membrane and the frame. The deformable beams individually correspond to the liquid chambers, and define a number of slits. Each slit is adjacent to one of the two sides of the frame. The deformable beams have a width that is less than a width of the liquid chambers, due at least to the slits.

A piezoelectric printhead and related methods provide a first metallic electrode and a second metallic electrode deposited over a top surface and a bottom surface, respectively, of a piezoceramic plate. The second electrode is segmented into a plurality of electrode segments. A diaphragm is positioned over a plurality of pressure chambers, where the diaphragm includes a conductor positioned over each chamber. The piezoceramic plate is attached to the diaphragm such that each conductor on the diaphragm faces multiple electrode segments.
