The e-vaping element includes a reservoir configured to hold a liquid aerosol-forming substrate, a heater configured to receive the liquid aerosol-forming substrate from the reservoir, one or more capillary wicks configured to transfer the liquid aerosol-forming substrate from the reservoir to the heater, and a first temperature sensor configured to sense at least one first temperature of the liquid aerosol-forming substrate held in the reservoir, the first temperature sensor and the heater being spaced apart from each other and being on opposite ends of the reservoir.

A heater assembly for an aerosol generating device includes a flexible heating element; a temperature sensor; and a flexible dielectric backing film with an adhesive on a surface of the flexible dielectric backing film, wherein the temperature sensor and the flexible heating element are supported adjacent to each other on the adhesive on the surface of the flexible backing film. The heater assembly allows for a more precise measurement of the heater temperature to be obtained while simplifying the assembly process.

A thin film heater includes a flexible heating element and a flexible electrically insulating backing film supporting the heating element; wherein the backing film includes one or both of a fluoropolymer or Polyetheretherketone. By using a fluoropolymer or Polyetheretherketone, improved dielectric and mechanical properties are provided, which are particularly suited to application in an aerosol generating device. A method of fabricating a thin film heater is also provided.

A vapor-generating system includes a cartridge including a first vapor-forming substrate, the cartridge having an annular shape and at least one end configured to abut a flange and at least partially cover a device air inlet, and a vapor-generating device having an outer surface that defines the flange, the vapor-generating device being configured to be overlain by the cartridge such that the cartridge is coupled against the flange, the vapor-generating device including a liquid storage section containing a second vapor-forming substrate, the second vapor-forming substrate being a liquid substrate, and a power supply section, the liquid storage section being configured to removably attach to the power supply section such that at least one of the flange and the device air inlet are defined by outer surfaces of the liquid storage section and the power supply section.

A customizable device may include a first inhalation device and a second inhalation device, each including a mouth end portion and an upstream end portion. In a storage configuration, the mouth end portion of at least one of the first inhalation device or the second inhalation device is removably coupled to the other inhalation device. In an active configuration, the upstream end portion of at least one of the first inhalation device or the second inhalation device is removably coupled to the other inhalation device. A connector hub may couple the inhalation devices.

The aerosol-generating device includes a device housing, a liquid aerosol-forming substrate, an electric heater, a power supply, and a controller. The device housing defines a cavity, a cavity air inlet, and a cavity air outlet. The cavity is configured to receive the cartridge such that an airflow from the cavity air inlet to the cavity outlet flows through the cartridge via the at least one aperture during an operation of the aerosol-generating system.

A method of fabricating a thin film heater includes providing a heating element supported on a surface of a flexible dielectric backing film; and attaching a layer of heat shrink film onto the surface of the dielectric backing film so as to at least partially enclose the heating element between the heat shrink film and the dielectric backing film. The method provides a much more precise and consistent method of assembling the heater assembly and improves the thermal properties and heat transfer to a heating chamber.
