Hydrokinetic fluid turbines utilize a flowing body of liquid to translate the kinetic energy of the fluid into electric power or other useful energy. The available kinetic energy is proportional to the squared fluid velocity in an open channel with a fixed cross-sectional area. The proposed twin turbine system coupled with a cycloidal magnetic gear exploits the hydrokinetic energy existing in open-channels.

A brake-generator system and associated method including: a rotor secured to a vehicle wheel, the rotor including a housing cylinder and a plurality of magnets affixed to an inner surface of the housing cylinder, where the plurality of magnets are radially arranged with alternating polarity; and a stator fixed to a vehicle wheel axle, the stator including a plurality of steel laminations and a plurality of conductor blocks, each conductor block of the plurality of conductor blocks being disposed in a slot formed in a steel lamination of the plurality of steel laminations; where the plurality of conductor blocks include a plurality of windings for carrying selectively-applied electrical current, such that with the rotor disposed around the stator and current being applied to the plurality of windings, a braking of the vehicle wheel results.

A cycloidal magnetic gear system for a turbine system is disclosed. The system includes a first stator magnet ring, a second stator magnet ring positioned opposite the first stator magnet ring, and a rotor positioned between the first and second stator rings of magnets. The rotor may include a first side positioned adjacent the first stator magnet ring, and a second side positioned adjacent the second stator magnet ring. The system may include a first rotor magnet ring affixed to the first side of the rotor, adjacent the first stator magnet ring. Additionally, the system may include a second rotor magnet ring affixed to the second side of the rotor, adjacent the second stator magnet ring. The rotor may be configured to rotate eccentrically about a center-axis of the first and/or second stator magnet ring.

Cycloidal magnetic gear system

A channel cutting tool may include an arbor that connects to a rotating spindle of a machining tool or a similar spinning part of a machining tool. Two slot cutting blades may be fixedly mounted to the arbor. An inner washer may be fixedly mounted on the arbor between the cutting blades and establish the blade spacing. An outer washer may be rotationally mounted to the inner washer with a smaller thickness to facilitate rotation relative to the two cutting blades. The arbor rotates about a longitudinal rotation axis, which also may be the rotation axis for the cutting blades, the inner washer, and the outer washer. The outer washer functions as a depth-limiting safeguard for the channel cutting tool.

An integrated MAGLEV (Magnetic Levitated Vehicle) system consists of permanent or preferably superconducting vehicle-mounted magnets which interact with both active and induced track-based currents. The magnets on the vehicle which are used for propulsion serve the dual purpose of realizing both levitation and lateral stabilization (guidance). The contribution offered by this invention is that it is able to provide propulsion, levitation, and guidance using a single type of track-based coil interacting with a singular type of magnetic field which is affixed to the vehicle. The realization of multiple functions with a single coil reduces the cost and enhances the efficiency of this MAGLEV system. In the main embodiment of this invention, propulsion currents are injected into brushes sliding along brush contact surfaces on the rail, series winding further eliminates the intermediate brushes leaving only the leading set of brushes and the trailing set. Motion induced currents in the coils realize both the necessary levitation and guidance forces for the vehicle. The propulsion system is a linear DC motor and requires no power handling along the track. Necessary operating power can either be carried on the vehicle or collected by a third rail pickup system. All coils in the track are supported by a reinforced recycled plastic matrix (polyvinyl fiberglass) or similar material.
