The invention relates to a pressure regulator for a fuel delivery system of an internal combustion engine for regulating a fuel pressure, including a valve, which has a valve ball that is pressed against a valve seat in the closed position by the action of a valve leaf spring. A segment of a hemisphere of the valve ball oriented toward the valve leaf spring protrudes into a recess associated with the valve leaf spring. This improves the noise behavior and regulating behavior of the pressure regulator.

Pressure regulator for a fuel supply system of an internal combustion engine

The invention relates to a pressure regulator for a fuel injection system of an internal combustion engine, in which a pressure difference prevailing between a pressure inlet and a pressure outlet can be kept essentially constant by opening and closing at least one valve, which valve includes a valve closing member forced into the closing position against a valve seat by the action of a valve closing spring. The valve spring is formed by means of at least one pivotably supported valve leaf spring, and an arm, toward the valve seat in terms of the pivotable bearing means, of the valve leaf spring is braced on the valve closing member, and an arm of the valve leaf spring located on the side opposite the valve seat is braced on a support body, in such a way that a torque equilibrium prevails at the valve leaf spring.

Pressure regulator

Fuel pumping apparatus having an impoundment container, disposed in a tank, in which impoundment container a pumping assembly is disposed that pumps fuel to the internal combustion engine. A jet pump is supplied with some of the fuel pumped by the pumping assembly and pumps fuel out of the tank into the impoundment container. Below the pumping assembly, near a bottom of the impoundment container, there is a suction chamber, from which the pumping assembly aspirates fuel. A connection of the suction chamber to the impoundment container is controlled by a float valve, disposed laterally next to the pumping assembly, and by means of this valve, when the impoundment container is full, the suction chamber communicates with the impoundment container; in this state, the pumping assembly aspirates fuel from the impoundment container. A connection of the suction chamber to the tank is controlled by a check valve, which is disposed on the bottom of the impoundment container and by which the suction chamber communicates with the tank when the impoundment container is empty; in this state, the pumping assembly aspirates fuel from the tank.

Apparatus for pumping fuel from a tank to an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle

A fuel system for an internal combustion engine, the fuel system including a fuel tank, a fuel pump communicating with the fuel tank, a fuel manifold downstream of the fuel pump, and a return line downstream of the fuel pump, the return line communicating with the fuel tank. The fuel system also includes a self-relieving fuel filter assembly having a filter member. The self-relieving fuel filter assembly communicates with the return line and is variable between a first state, wherein fuel passes through the return line and the filter member before returning to the fuel tank, and a second state, wherein fuel passes through the return line without passing through the filter member before returning to the fuel tank. The self-relieving fuel filter assembly therefore permits the continuous passage of fuel through the return line even when the filter member becomes plugged.

A fuel system including first and second tank portions communicating with each other such that the first and second tank portions have a substantially equal vapor pressure, first and second fuel pumps in the first and second tank portions, respectively, and a crossover fuel line for transferring fuel in either direction between the first and second tank portions, the direction of transfer depending on the relative level of fuel in the first and second tank portions. Respective first and second shuttle valves control the direction of fuel flow through the single crossover line to maintain substantially equal fuel levels in both bifurcated portions until the tank is empty. First and second jet pumps communicate with the crossover fuel line and provide the suction needed for fuel transfer.

Dual fuel delivery module system for bifurcated automotive fuel tanks

It has been determined that a fuel delivery system with a fuel supply line and electromagnetically actuatable fuel injection valves produce fuel oscillations during opening and closing of the fuel injection valves and therefore generates noise, which is transmitted into the passenger compartment of the vehicle and annoys the passengers. In order to damp this kind of noise, at least one elongated, hollow damping body is connected at right angles to the fuel supply line and has a closed end. The axial length of the hollow damping body corresponds to 11/2 times the wavelength of the fuel oscillation to be damped in the fuel supply line. The length of the at least one damping body can also correspond to 11/2 times the wavelength of the fuel oscillation to be damped in the fuel supply line, divided by 2 or by a multiple of 2. The fuel delivery system is particularly suited for mixture compressing internal combustion engines with externally supplied ignition.
