The invention is a system and method of controlling an access of a subscriber to a network. The method includes sending an identification of the subscriber and a level of access to be provided to the subscriber from a visited network of a plurality of networks () connected to a home network (); in response to the identification of the subscriber and a level of access to be provided to the subscriber, storing a subscriber profile of the authorized of access to be provided to the subscriber; and controlling access of the subscriber to any network dependent upon a comparison of access to be provided to the subscriber and the stored subscriber profile.

System and method of controlling application level access of subscriber to a network

A method for estimating the location of a terminal operating in a communication system having at least two networks having overlapping areas of coverage, each network supporting at least one method for estimating the location of the terminal, and the terminal being in communication with a first one of the networks, the method comprising: assessing which of the networks is likely to form the more accurate estimate of the location of the terminal; and if that is the first one of the networks, estimating the location of the terminal by means of the first one of the networks, and if that is a second one of the networks, handling over the terminal to the second one of the networks and estimating the location of the terminal by means of the second one of the networks.

In the method a first type of communication services is provided for a station (), wherein a first network entity () provides control operations for the provision of the communication service. A part of said control operations is then relayed from the first network entity () to a second network entity (). A communication service of said second type is provided for the station based on said information.

Communication system comprising a plurality of communication networks

The disclosure relates to transfer of a user equipment from a network to another network. In the method a user equipment communicating with a first network is transferred from the first network to a second network providing resources to a plurality of operators. After initiation of the transfer, an operator is selected for the user equipment amongst the plurality of operators. A controller of the second network is then provided with information regarding the identity of the selected operator, and the user equipment is transferred to the second network. Information regarding the identity of the selected operator is also sent to the user equipment.

Transfer of a user equipment in a communication system

A method and system is disclosed for performing a location registration in a cellular communication network, wherein a subscriber identity of a user equipment is analyzed when a location registration request has been received, and a priority is allocated to the subscriber based on the result of the analysis. Then, the location registration request is admitted or rejected based on the allocated priority and a detected network load. Thereby, the network operator is able to guarantee network services for home subscribers in cases of increased network load.

Method of performing an area update for a terminal equipment in a communication network

A mechanism for performing routing in a communication system including a radio access network and a plurality of core networks connected to the radio access network. In order to accomplish a mechanism whereby the routing of a registration request to a serving core network, and also the rejection of a registration request, can be carried out in a controlled manner, a core network is first selected for a registration request received. The registration request is then forwarded to the selected core network and, in response to at least one predetermined criterion being fulfilled, the selected core network is notified that the registration request is to be served by that core network, i.e. that the registration request cannot be rerouted to another core network.

Accordingly, whenever a fall-back to a protocol version not supporting the required identification information is determined, the identification information is retrieved from the user database, to thereby guarantee that the correct identification information is used in the new location register. The identification information may comprise security or authentication parameters.
