A method and system for indirect tire pressure monitoring of tires of a vehicle is described. The method may include providing a tire classification database indicating at least one classified tire type. The method may also include determining a vehicle tire type for the vehicle on the basis of vehicle data in including information on at least one tire currently used with the vehicle, and determining whether the vehicle tire type can be associated to one of the at least one classified tire type. The method may also include, in the case an association is determined, monitoring tire pressure according to the associated classified tire type.

Tire pressure classification based tire pressure monitoring

In indirect tire pressure monitoring of tires of a vehicle, the following steps and means to carry out the same, respectively, are contemplated:&#x2014;providing a tire classification database indicating at least one classified tire type;&#x2014;determining a vehicle tire type for the vehicle on the basis of vehicle data in including information on at least one tire currently used with the vehicle,&#x2014;determining whether the vehicle tire type can be associated to one of the at least one classified tire type; and&#x2014;, in the case an association is determined, monitoring tire pressure according to the associated classified tire type.

A method of determining the velocity (&#x3bd;) of a vehicle is provided. The vehicle has at least one pair of a front and a rear wheel which are spaced by a wheel spacing (B). Front and rear wheel speed signals (&#x3c9;) are determined which are indicative of the time dependent behavior of the front and rear wheel speeds, respectively. The front and rear wheel speed signals (&#x3c9;) are correlated in order to determine a specific correlation feature indicative of the time delay (&#x3c4;) between the front wheel and rear wheel speed signals. The velocity (&#x3bd;) of the vehicle is determined based on the correlation feature and the wheel spacing (B).

Method and system of determining the absolute velocity of a vehicle

A method of estimating the occurrence of a specific tire pressure deviation between actual and nominal pressure values for one or a plurality of wheels (i) is provided. One or more wheel radius analysis measurement values (&#x394;R) are subsequently obtained from a wheel radius analysis component (), wherein the wheel radius analysis measurement values (&#x394;R) are related to single wheel radius values (&#x394;r) of which each is indicative of the wheel radius of a particular wheel (i). One or more wheel vibration data values (&#x394;&#x192;) are subsequently obtained from a wheel vibration analysis component (), wherein each of the wheel vibration data values (&#x394;&#x192;) is indicative of a vibration phenomena in the time dependent behavior of the rotational velocity of a particular wheel (i). One or more tire pressure output values (&#x3b7;, &#x394;p) are calculated on the basis of both the wheel radius analysis measurement values (&#x394;R) and the wheel vibration data values (&#x394;&#x192;) wherein each tire pressure output value (&#x3b7;, &#x394;p) is indicative of the specific tire pressure deviation for a particular wheel (i).
