A network administration system for automatically activating and deactivating dynamic rule sets in response to receipt of error logs from network devices and applications, comprising a user interface for manually activating and deactivating rule sets having defined rule set criteria and for associating rule set activation keys with the rule sets, wherein said activation keys associate changes in status of the dynamic rule sets, and a program for receiving the error logs and for each of the rule sets in connection with which activation keys have been associated and whose criteria have been satisfied by the error logs, reading the activation keys and one of either activating or deactivating the dynamic rule sets in accordance with the associated changes in status.

Dynamic rule sets for generated logs

A method of generating a tree hierarchy display of error logs received from network devices and applications, each of the logs including a brief description of error cause and predetermined higher level ones of the logs being created in response to generation of predetermined combinations of lower level ones of the logs in accordance with user defined rule set criteria. The method comprises the steps of generating a user interface for entering explanations associated with predetermined ones of the error logs, storing the lower level ones of the logs used in meeting the rule set criteria, and displaying a tree hierarchy of the logs for any fully satisfied rule set criteria by attaching links between the logs in relation to the rule set criteria.

The present invention relates to a system for automatically identifying enunciation of telephone numbers and email addresses in voice mail messages for presentation to a user via either voice or text, without the user being required to replay the message. Furthermore, according to the invention the extracted telephone number or email addresses may be forwarded to an application for further processing (e.g. to dial the extracted number, add the email address and/or telephone number to a contacts database, etc.) The user may specify text strings to be searched (other than telephone numbers and email addresses). Thus, a user can specify certain words such as &ldquo;extension&rdquo;, &ldquo;email&rdquo;, etc., in order to qualify the extracted number or email address information, or words such as &ldquo;urgently&rdquo; or &ldquo;immediately&rdquo; to identify important voice mail messages.
