A brushless direct-current (BLDC) motor is provided including: a stator including a stator core having an aperture extending therethrough and a series of stator windings; and a rotor including a rotor core having a substantially cylindrical body, permanent magnets secured to an inner surface of the rotor core, a rotor shaft extending through the stator, and an overmold structure. The overmold structure includes: a radially body extending adjacent an axial end of the stator and coupled to the rotor shaft via a bushing, and a peripheral body formed around an outer surface and axial end surfaces of the rotor core and structurally securing the permanent magnets to the inner surface of the rotor core.

Outer-rotor motor assembly

An outer-rotor brushless direct-current motor is provided. The motor includes a motor can that supports the motor components and a fan mounted on a rotor shaft inside the motor can to generate an airflow through the motor can. The motor can includes exhaust openings formed around the fan to allow the airflow to be expelled radially away from the fan, and intake openings formed at a distance from the exhaust openings to allow an airstream to be received radially into the motor can.

Outer-rotor brushless motor for a power tool

A brushless direct-current (BLDC) motor is provided. The motor includes a stator including a stator core, stator teeth, and windings; a rotor shaft disposed within the stator and extending along a longitudinal axis; and a rotor. The rotor includes a rotor core having a cylindrical body, a permanent magnet ring mounted on an outer surface of the cylindrical body with no intermediate adhesive therebetween, and metal sleeve securely fitted outside the permanent magnet ring. The metal sleeve includes a flange extending radially inwardly that covers an axial end of the permanent magnet ring and is bonded to the rotor core to secure the permanent magnet ring to the rotor core.

A motor assembly is provided including a stator assembly and a rotor assembly rotatably disposed relative to the stator assembly. The rotor assembly includes a rotor core having magnet pockets formed therethrough along a longitudinal direction, permanent magnets received within the magnet pockets, and a spring structure disposed in contact with the end of the rotor core. The spring structure includes spring elements configured to apply biasing forces to the permanent magnets along the longitudinal direction of the magnet pockets. Optionally a magnet retention end cap is provided to secure the spring structure to the end of the rotor core.

Rotor magnet retainer

A brushless direct-current (BLDC) motor is provided. The motor includes a stator including a stator core, stator teeth, and windings; a rotor shaft disposed within the stator and extending along a longitudinal axis; and a rotor. The rotor includes a rotor core including an inner body mounted on the rotor shaft and radial projections projecting outwardly from the inner body, a permanent magnet mounted on an outer end of the radial projections, and a mold structure formed in contact with the radial projections and configured to secure the permanent magnet to the rotor core.

Overmolded rotor structure

A power tool includes a tool housing and a motor assembly received in the tool housing. The motor assembly has a rear end portion, a front end portion, and a motor output shaft. A transmission housing is coupled to the motor housing with a transmission received in the transmission housing, to which the motor output shaft is drivingly coupled. A partition assembly includes a rear cover covering a rear end portion of the transmission housing that faces the front end portion of the motor and a seal. The rear cover of the transmission housing, the front end portion of the motor, and the seal together define at least a first labyrinth path and a second labyrinth path therebetween configured to inhibit grease or dust migration between the transmission housing and the motor assembly.
