A monitor ECUperforms a support control based on a camera image photographed through a protection window by a camera. The ECU determines that a protection window state is an entire dirt state, when a first area index value calculated based on edge strength of pixels in a first area including a center of the camera image is smaller than a threshold dirt value. The ECU determines that the entire dirt state ends, when at least one of a first condition or a second condition is established. The first condition is established when the first area index value is equal to or greater than a first threshold end value. The second condition is established when a second area index value calculated based on the edge strength in a second area except the first area is equal to or greater than a second threshold end value.

Monitor device

An image monitoring device includes a luminance calculator and a darkness determiner. The luminance calculator calculates a first average luminance value of an illuminated region which is illuminated with a lamp and a second average luminance value of a non-illuminated region which is not illuminated with the lamp. The illuminated region and the non-illuminated region are included in a video signal generated by capturing with a lens. The darkness determiner determines whether or not the video signal is captured in dark by comparing a difference between the first average luminance value and the second average luminance value with a first threshold value.

Image monitoring device, image monitoring method, and recording medium

An image monitoring device includes a maximum value and minimum value calculator, a small-luminance-difference determiner, a small-luminance-difference-block counter, and a dirt adherence determiner. The maximum value and minimum value calculator calculates, for each of a plurality of blocks set in one frame of a video signal obtained through a lens, a maximum luminance value and a minimum luminance value of a plurality of pixels forming each of the plurality of blocks. The small-luminance-difference determiner determines whether or not each of the blocks has a small luminance difference, by comparing a difference between the maximum luminance value and the minimum luminance value with a first threshold. The small-luminance-difference-block counter counts a number of blocks having the small luminance difference in the one frame. The dirt adherence determiner determines whether or not dirt is adherent to the lens, based on the number of blocks having the small luminance difference.

An image processing apparatus () performs matching processing with respect to a first video signal and a second video signal obtained from two imaging devices (). The matching processing minimizes a disparity amount between the first video signal and the second video signal. A third video signal obtained from one of the imaging devices () is shifted by a minimum disparity amount obtained as a result of the matching processing, and is added to a fourth video signal obtained from the other imaging device (). Non-linear processing and/or contour correction processing is performed on the video signal obtained by adding the two video signals, and a monitoring image is generated. Thus, an image processing apparatus is provided that can obtain a monitoring image of high image quality by adding two video signals and utilizing the resulting video signal as a monitoring image.

A video camera having a plurality of solid-state image sensors in an imaging part uses two kinds of vertical drive signals different in the number of vertical transfer operations, to produce a time lag equal to one horizontal period between the output signals of the solid-state image sensors without changing the optical positional relation between the solid-state image sensors, thereby delaying the red and blue signals with respect to the green signal by one horizontal period based on the application of the two kinds of vertical drive signals.

A moving picture coding apparatus is disclosed in which when an input image and the image of the preceding image are correlated to each other, the inter-frame coding is effected, while when no correlation exists, the intra-frame coding is carried out for packet switched networks. The moving picture coding apparatus is comprised of a device for refreshing blocks in a frame at regular intervals of time, and when the number of cells generated by coding during a predetermined past time is larger than a threshold level set in advance, the number of blocks refreshed is reduced, thereby preventing the image information more than a maximum transmission capacity of the packet switched networks from being generated.
