A brake pressure control device of deceleration responsive type includes an inertia-controlled valve element cooperating with a valve seat in a valve chamber to control the ratio of brake fluid pressures being applied to front and rear wheel brake cylinders in response to the attainment of a predetermined rate of deceleration of the vehicle. In the control device, a partition member is assembled within the valve chamber to ensure the precise initial setting of the valve element, the partition member being further provided with a fluid passage to ensure the optimum control of fluid flow acting on the valve element.

A device for controlling the hydraulic pressure in the hydraulic braking system of a vehicle, in such a manner that the hydraulic pressure in the rear wheel cylinder is increased at a rate smaller than that in the front wheel cylinder, after a predetermined level of deceleration of the vehicle is reached. The device has a valve chamber in which a ball valve is disposed movably. A differential piston has two opposing pressure receiving surfaces of different areas exposed in the inlet and outlet chambers. A device of the type adapted to be interposed between rear wheel brakes of a vehicle and one of dual master cylinders for separate hydraulic circuits to the front and the rear brakes, for not only sensing axle loading and weight shift in order to optimize braking effectiveness but also permitting unrestrained passage of fluid therethrough for the purpose of compensating an accidental failure of the front brakes. The device is characterized by the fact that a load sensing spring is provided for sensing the varying load on vehicle wheels in a manner such that the load sensing spring is rather less loaded in case of the failure of the front brakes than is experienced prior to the failure.

An apparatus for controlling hydraulic pressure delivered to brake cylinders for rear wheels of a motor vehicle in dependence on load states and deceleration thereof comprises a first hydraulic chamber communicated with a master brake cylinder operable by a brake pedal, a second hydraulic chamber communicated with the brake cylinders for the rear wheels, a communication passage for communicating the first and second hydraulic chambers with each other, a ball valve disposed in the first hydraulic chamber and adapted to be displaced under inertia to close the communication passage, and a differential piston having pressure receiving regions exposed in the first and second hydraulic chambers for controlling the rate of increase in the hydraulic pressure within the brake cylinders for the rear wheels relative to the increase in the hydraulic pressure within the master cylinder. The differential piston is disposed in series with the ball valve and adapted to be displaced in the direction toward the first hydraulic chamber to bear against the ball valve thereby to prevent the latter from closing the communication passage in dependence on load states of the motor vehicle.

In a vehicle braking system, a fluid pressure control device comprises an inertia-controlled valve for interrupting fluid communication between a master cylinder and rear wheel brake cylinders at a deceleration in excess of a predetermined value and a differential piston for gradually increasing the fluid pressure trapped within the wheel brake cylinders after the valve is closed.
