A mounting pedestal on which a heat generating component is disposed is provided. The mounting pedestal includes a substrate which includes a plurality of bending portions at which the substrate is bent in a staircase shape. An insulating layer is disposed on a surface of the substrate. An interconnecting line is disposed on the insulating layer. In the mounting pedestal, the interconnecting line extends across the plurality of bending portions. In each of the plurality of bending portions, a corner radius (R) of a mountain portion is greater than a corner R of a valley portion.

The base and at least a lateral face of the outer leg portion are bonded together by a first resin that is insertable from the outer leg insertion portion.

The I-core and the E-core are pressed and fixed to each other by a fixing spring wrapped around the I-core and the E-core through the fixing grooves and the fixing recess portions. An x-direction length of the E-core is shorter than an x-direction length of the I-core, and a y-direction length of the E-core is shorter than or equal to a y-direction distance between the fixing grooves of the I-core.

In order to suppress a peak of an excessive current and suppress a variation in a resonance voltage of a resonator, which are likely to occur immediately after a discharge lamp starts lighting, in a case where a high-frequency current continuously flows asymmetrically with respect to a zero current instead of flowing symmetrically on positive and negative sides immediately after the lighting since electrodes of the discharge lamp are not evenly warmed, the resonance voltage and the high-frequency current are finely adjusted in a resonance voltage and high-frequency current setting method including setting a drive frequency of an inverter circuit and varying output from a down-converter.

A transformer in this invention comprises substrates constructing a primary winding, substrates constructing the secondary winding, and a core member disposed around the substrates. The substrates defining the primary winding are provided with insertion holes for passing a middle leg portion of the core member, and patterned conductors having one turn. The transformer further comprises an interlayer connection member. The interlayer connection member is located inwardly of the patterned conductors of the substrates defining the primary winding. The interlayer connection member is located on the same side of the patterned conductors defining the primary winding. The interlayer connection member is configured to establish the electrical connection of the patterned conductors defining the primary winding.

In vehicle headlamp control apparatuses, which receive a direct current voltage Es, light discharge lamps by square waves, and drive motors, in each of which the number is at least one, arithmetic operations are performed for synchronizing the square waves for lighting the discharge lamps and pulses for driving the motors with each other and for driving the motors within a substantially constant time after polarities of the square waves for lighting the discharge lamps are inverted. By using an inexpensive microcomputer, the vehicle headlamp control apparatuses make it possible to realize lighting controls for the discharge lamps and smooth drive controls for headlamps and auxiliary lamps by the motors for varying optical axes thereof.

A vehicle-mounted load controller is characterized by including: a power terminal connected to a power line through a fuse; load connecting portions to which loads having vehicle-mounted light sources are connected; switches which are provided corresponding to the load connecting portions and which control states of power supply from the power line connected to the power terminal to the light sources connected to the load connecting portions; and a control unit which controls the switches in response to inputted control signals. The vehicle-mounted load controller is characterized in that the multiple load connecting portions to which the multiple light sources for different uses are respectively connected are electrically connected to the power terminal, and that each of the switches stops the supply of power from the power line to the light source connected to the corresponding load connecting portion when the magnitude of current flowing through the light source reaches or exceeds a predetermined value. A rise in lamp voltage during a period from the start of lighting to the establishment of stable lighting is reduced with consideration given to a history of lighting conditions for stable lighting. This produces effects such as increasing the lives of lamps and reducing the frequency of occurrence of arc jumping.

A high pressure discharge lamp ballast is provided with a control operation for stable transition from a lamp ignition mode into a preheating mode. An inverter is coupled across a DC source and has a plurality of switching elements coupled to the high pressure discharge lamp. A series resonant LC circuit is coupled to the inverter outputs and to the high pressure discharge lamp. A control circuit is coupled to the switching elements and configured to control switching operation. An ignition mode has one or more time periods during each of which a driving frequency of the switching elements is swept through a predetermined range of frequencies and then controlled at a first driving frequency less than the predetermined range of frequencies. A preheating mode follows wherein the switching elements are controlled at a second driving frequency less than the predetermined range of frequencies.
