The present invention relates to a control device and a control method for an internal combustion engine including a fuel injection valve and an electric fuel pump. In stopping the internal combustion engine, the control device stops driving of the fuel pump and then fuel injection by the fuel injection valve, and increases the total amount of fuel injection by the fuel injection valve after stopping of driving of the fuel pump as the temperature of fuel in stopping the internal combustion engine decreases, thereby reducing a fuel pressure in a stop period. In this manner, fuel leakage from the fuel injection valve in the stop period can be reduced with a simple configuration.

Control device and control method for internal combustion engine

The present invention relates to a control apparatus and method for an internal combustion engine including two fuel injection valves in the intake port of each cylinder. In the present invention, fuel injection from a first fuel injection valve is activated while fuel injection from a second fuel injection valve is temporarily stopped at the resumption of fuel injection from the deceleration fuel cut-off state in response to a decrease in the engine rotation speed. The amount of minimum fuel injection to each cylinder that ensures the accuracy of fuel measurement can be reduced, and fuel is injected from the first fuel injection valve in an amount equal to or greater than the amount of minimum fuel injection. Thus, fuel injection can be resumed at a lower engine speed than when fuel injection is resumed from the two fuel injection valves.

Control apparatus and method for internal combustion engine

The present invention relates to a cooling device and a control method therefor. This cooling device includes: a first cooling liquid line routed by way of a cylinder head and a radiator; a second cooling liquid line routed by way of a cylinder block while bypassing the radiator; a third cooling liquid line routed by way of the cylinder head and a heater core while bypassing the radiator; a flow rate control valve for distributing cooling water to the cooling liquid lines; and mechanical and electric water pumps. A control unit controls the flow rate control valve according to the temperatures of the cylinder head and block, during engine operation, and causes the electric water pump to operate while controlling the flow rate control valve according to the temperature of the cylinder head, and whether or not heat exchange in the heater core is requested, during temporary engine stop.

There is provided a configuration in which a cylinder which is in an inlet stroke when an internal combustion engine is in a stop (automatic stop) state is determined and stored, and when starting the engine upon detection of a start request, the fuel injection of an initial cycle to the cylinder, which has been determined as having been stopped in the inlet stroke when the engine was in the stop state before starting, is split into a plurality if injections at least including an injection before engine rotation, to thereby perform injections. As a result, startability is improved while suppressing pre-ignition at the time of starting.

Apparatus for and method of controlling fuel injection of internal combustion engine

The present invention relates to a cooling device and a control method for the same. This cooling device includes: a first cooling liquid line routed by way of a cylinder head and a radiator; a second cooling liquid line routed by way of a cylinder block while bypassing the radiator; an electric flow rate control valve whose inlet is connected to the first and second cooling liquid lines, and whose outlet is connected to the intake side of an electric water pump; and a bypass line that branches off from the first cooling liquid line at a point between the cylinder head and the radiator and that joins to the outlet of the flow rate control valve while bypassing the radiator. A control unit controls the flow rate control valve according to the temperature of the cylinder head and the temperature of the cylinder block.

The present invention relates to an apparatus for and a method of controlling a variable valve timing mechanism. The valve timing mechanism changes over between a first cam for which the closing timing IVC of the intake valve is after intake bottom dead center, and a second cam for which the closing timing IVC is closer to intake bottom dead center than the closing timing IVC with the first cam. Here at the time of stopping the internal combustion engine, the valve timing mechanism changes over to the first cam, and the initial intake stroke performs operation at low effective compression ratio. In the second and subsequent intake strokes, the valve timing mechanism changes from the first cam to the second cam.

Apparatus for and method of controlling variable valve timing mechanism

A brake system provided with a brake booster using intake negative pressure of an engine for boosting a brake operating force for a vehicle. A requested braking force is detected base on an operating amount of a brake pedal, and when the requested braking force is less than a threshold value, a master cylinder pressure prevailing in the master cylinder using an operating force boosted by the brake booster is supplied to the wheel cylinder. On the other hand, when the requested braking force is greater than or equal to the threshold value, brake fluid pressure having been boosted by a pump is supplied to the wheel cylinder. The threshold value is set to a value that becomes greater the larger the negative pressure inside the brake booster.

Brake system for engine-operated vehicle and controlling method thereof

An internal combustion engine is provided with a valve lift varying mechanism for intake valves and a valve phase varying mechanism for exhaust valves. A controller performs a control operation in response to a request to pause at least one cylinder while the engine is in operation. The control operation includes: a first operation of setting an intake valve lift to a zero-lift setpoint by the valve lift varying mechanism; and a second operation of setting an exhaust valve phase by the valve phase varying mechanism so as to set an exhaust valve opening timing to a first timing setpoint on an advance side of bottom dead center and set an exhaust valve closing timing to a second timing setpoint on a retard side of bottom dead center. The first and second timing setpoints are closer to top dead center than to bottom dead center.

Variable valve actuating apparatus, valve phase varying apparatus and control apparatus for internal combustion engine

The present invention relates to a variable operation angle mechanism that can improve engine performance at transient operation by optimally setting a ratio between change amounts of opening and closing timings accompanying a variation in valve operation angle of intake valve, and relates to an apparatus for and a method of controlling an engine including the variable operation angle mechanism. In the variable operation angle mechanism, ratio RIVO of change amount of opening timing IVO of intake valve to change amount of valve operation angle is set to be 20% or more and 40% or less, and preferably, to be 30%. In engine including a variable valve timing mechanism varying a rotating phase of intake camshaft relative to crankshaft and the variable operation angle mechanism, a target phase change amount varied by the variable valve timing mechanism is corrected for phase change amount accompanying the variation in the valve operation angle.

The present invention is related to an apparatus for and a method of controlling an engine provided with: a variable operation angle mechanism that is provided for varying a valve operation angle of an engine valve driven by a camshaft, and is capable of varying a center phase of the valve operation angle in response to a variation in the valve operation angle; and a variable valve timing mechanism provided for varying a rotating phase of the camshaft relative to a crankshaft of the engine, in which a target valve operation angle and a target rotating phase is calculated based on the engine operating state, and a correction value for correcting the target rotating phase based on the target valve operation angle is set. Then, the target rotating phase is corrected by the correction value, thereby controlling the variable valve timing mechanism based on the corrected target rotating phase.

Apparatus for and method of controlling engine

A variable valve actuating apparatus for an internal combustion engine includes an intake valve operating angle varying mechanism, and an intake valve timing varying mechanism. The intake valve timing varying mechanism includes a housing rotating in synchronization with a crankshaft, and a vane member coupled to a drive shaft for intake valve operation, and movably mounted in the housing. The vane member includes a vane defining first and second fluid pressure chambers on first and second opposite sides of the vane. A hydraulic circuit is arranged to rotate the vane member relative to the housing by supply and return of a brake fluid to and from the first and second fluid pressure chambers so as to change the intake valve maximum lift phase. Coil springs are arranged to bias the vane member relative to the housing in a direction to retard the intake valve maximum lift phase.
