A power supply unit, which is mounted in a host device for supplying power to a client device through a cable interposed therebetween, includes an output unit configured to generate a first output voltage from an input voltage. A controller is provided in the power supply to perform voltage feedback control on the output unit such that the first output voltage is maintained at a predetermined target value. Also, the power supply unit includes a first correction unit configured to correct the voltage feedback control at the controller such that the first output voltage is increased as a second output voltage finally supplied to the client device becomes lower, and a second correction unit configured to correct the voltage feedback control at the controller such that the first output voltage is increased as an output current supplied from the host device to the client device becomes larger.

Power supply unit

A control circuit may include a first feedback input terminal which receives the cathode terminal voltage of light-emitting elements from a current driving circuit as a feedback signal. Such an arrangement controls the ON/OFF state of a switching element such that the cathode terminal voltage approaches a predetermined voltage. A second feedback input terminal may be included to receive the anode terminal voltage of the light-emitting elements as a feedback signal. Such an arrangement controls the ON/OFF state of the switching element such that the anode terminal voltage does not exceed a predetermined threshold voltage. A feedback output terminal may be included of the current driving circuit which allows the cathode terminal voltage of the light-emitting elements to be input to a control circuit for the switching regulator as a feedback signal. The control circuit and the current driving circuit may be integrally provided in the form of separate semiconductor chips.

Switching regulator control circuit, current drive circuit, light emitting apparatus, and information terminal apparatus

A linear regulator is provided which stabilizes an input voltage based on a reference voltage source that generates a reference voltage, and the reference voltage generated by the reference voltage. An output voltage of the linear regulator is supplied as a power supply voltage of a switching controller and the reference voltage source. The linear regulator is configured to enable switching of a regulation mode in which voltage is outputted according to the reference voltage, and a bypass mode in which an input voltage is outputted as it is, with no relation to the reference voltage. When a power supply apparatus is started up, during a time period until the input voltage reaches a predetermined threshold voltage, the linear regulator operates in the bypass mode, and when the input voltage exceeds the threshold voltage, operates in the regulation mode.

Power supply device, electronic device using the same, and semiconductor device

In a power supply apparatus for performing constant current driving of a light emitting diode which is a load circuit, a constant current circuit is disposed on a path for driving the load circuit. A charge pump circuit which is a voltage generating circuit outputs a driving voltage to the light emitting diode. A monitoring circuit monitors the voltage across the two ends of the constant current circuit. This monitoring circuit includes a voltage source which generates a threshold voltage that follows the fluctuation of the voltage at which the constant current circuit can operate stably, compares the voltage across the two ends of the constant current circuit and the threshold voltage generated by the voltage source, and outputs a comparison result Vs to a control unit. The control unit controls the charge pump circuit on the basis of the output of the monitoring circuit.

Power supply apparatus

A driver circuit for a charge pump circuit capable of switching between step-up ratios, may include a control unit which controls the charge pump circuit; a first oscillator outputting a first periodic signal; and a second oscillator outputting a second periodic signal employed for a time measurement for setting the step-up ratio and having a frequency set lower than the first periodic signal. When the step-up ratio of the charge pump circuit is larger than 1, the control unit turns on only the first oscillator to perform, based on the first periodic signal, a time measurement for setting the step-up ratio and the control of a step-up action of the charge pump circuit. When the step-up ratio of the charge pump circuit is 1, the control unit turns on only the second oscillator to perform the time measurement for setting up the step-up ratio based on the second periodic signal.

Charge pump circuit driver circuit having a plurality of oscillators

A voltage comparator of a power supply apparatus detects overshoot by comparing an output voltage with a threshold voltage. The power supply apparatus is provided with three switches. Upon detection of overshoot, the boosting operation of a booster circuit is suspended and the first through third switches are turned on. While the boosting operation is being suspended, the second switch operates to lower the output voltage. Concurrently, the first and third switches operate to forcibly lower an input voltage to allow the output voltage, occurring after the boosting operation is resumed, to approach a preset voltage.

Power supply apparatus provided with regulation function and boosting of a regulated voltage

A drive control circuit sends out pulse signals of various pulse signals so as to control the light emission amount and luminance of LEDs by gradually increasing and decreasing the pulse width in predetermined cycles during predetermined periods based on parameters supplied from an LED drive controller that determine a first emission control processing period, a second emission control processing period, first to fourth slope periods and the like. The tone of an emitted color realized by a plurality of LEDs is controlled by synchronizing the periods of time of light emission control processings.

Drive control circuit, emission control circuit, communication apparatus and drive control method

An LCD panel module includes a common boosting converter, an LCD boosting circuit, an LDO control circuit, and constant current circuits for parallel-connected LED elements and series-connected LED elements. The LCD panel module is so configured that a type-switching unit can switch over between Typein which the LED elements are connected in parallel and Typein which the LED elements are connected in series. The common boosting converter preliminarily boosts a battery voltage supplied from a lithium ion battery to a low voltage or a high voltage and supplies the boosted voltage to the parallel-connected LED elements or series-connected LED elements respectively. The LCD boosting circuit boosts the low voltage and supplies it to an LCD panel, while the LDO control circuit steps down the high voltage and supplies it to the LCD panel.

When a step-up ratio control circuit sets a step-up ratio of a charge pump circuit to 1.0 to enable a short mode, a path inside the charge pump circuit is short-circuited and a first transistor is completely turned on. This produces an inrush current derived from a battery voltage of a lithium ion battery flowing into the charge pump circuit. To address this, a constant current circuit is operated so that the first transistor is turned on slowly. Further, the operation of an oscillator and an operational amplifier is suspended when the short mode is enabled.

Boost circuit capable of step-up ratio control

A series regulator for outputting a regulated voltage and a booster circuit of a charge pump type for outputting an output voltage by boosting the regulated voltage are connected in series. The series regulator is controlled so that the output voltage is maintained constant. A main circuit current of the series regulator is subject to current limitation. An excess signal commensurate of an excess of a current indicator value over a current reference value is generated. A voltage control signal is reduced in level in accordance with the excess signal.
