A cemented carbide is composed of a first hard phase, a second hard phase, and a binder phase, wherein the first hard phase is composed of tungsten carbide particles and having a particle diameter D10 of 0.30 μm to 0.60 μm, a particle diameter D90 of 0.90 μm to 1.40 μm, the second hard phase contains at least one first compound selected from the group consisting of TiNbC, TiNbN, and TiNbCN, and having an average particle diameter of 0.03 μm to 0.50 μm, a content of the binder phase in the cemented carbide is 8.0 vol % to 16.0 vol %, an average particle diameter of the binder phase is 0.15 μm to 0.45, a particle diameter D95 of the binder phase is 1.5 μm or less, and a degree of dispersion of the binder phase is 0.15 to 0.25.

Cemented carbide and tool containing the same

Provided is a tungsten carbide powder satisfying such a condition that when the Fsss particle size thereof is represented by a (&#x3bc;m) and the BET particle size thereof converted from the BET specific surface area is represented by b (&#x3bc;m), a is 0.40 &#x3bc;m or more and 1.50 &#x3bc;m or less, and b/a is 0.17 or more and 0.35 or less.

Tungsten carbide powder

A complex carbonitride powder contains Ti as a main component element and at least one additional element selected from the group consisting of Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, W, Al, and Si. The complex carbonitride powder includes a plurality of complex carbonitride particles containing Ti and the additional element. The plurality of complex carbonitride particles include a plurality of homogeneous composition particles where average concentrations of Ti and the additional element in each complex carbonitride particle have a difference in a range of greater than or equal to &#x2212;5 atom % and less than or equal to 5 atom % from average concentrations of Ti and the additional element in the whole complex carbonitride powder. A cross-sectional area of the homogeneous composition particles is greater than or equal to 90% of a cross-sectional area of the complex carbonitride particles

Complex carbonitride powder and method for producing same

A joined product has a cemented carbide sintered compact serving as a first material to be joined and a cBN sintered compact serving as a second material to be joined, wherein: the first material to be joined and the second material to be joined are joined together via a joining material disposed therebetween and containing titanium (Ti); and a titanium nitride (TiN) compound layer having a thickness of 10-300 nm is produced at an interface between the second material to be joined and the joining material.

The present invention provides a composite material that is excellent in the bonding ability between a cemented carbide layer and a cermet layer is excellent and deformation after sintering can be suppressed and a coated cutting tool having a base containing the composite material. A composite materialis obtained by laminating a cemented carbide layerand a cermet layerand has the cemented carbide layeron the surface side. The boundary between both the layersandhas a concave portion, and the maximum depth Dof the concave portionis 50 &#x3bc;m or more and 500 &#x3bc;m or lower. When the thickness of the composite material is defined as hand the thickness of the cemented carbide layeris defined as h, h/his in the range of more than 0.02 and 0.4 or lower. By providing the concave portionto the boundary, both the layersandare sufficiently bound and the bonding ability therebetween is excellent. Due to the fact the cemented carbide layersatisfies the given thickness mentioned above, the composite materialis difficult to deform.

Composite material and coated cutting tool

There is provided a joined product suitable as a cutting tool that is fit for high-speed cutting, CVD coating process and the like, and does not cause a reduction in joint strength of a joining layer even if a high temperature exceeding a temperature at which a brazing filler forms the liquid phase is reached during cutting. Specifically, the joined product includes a cemented carbide sintered compact serving as a first material to be joined and a cBN sintered compact or a diamond sintered compact serving as a second material to be joined. The first material to be joined and the second material to be joined are joined by a joining material that does not form a liquid phase at a temperature lower than 1000&#xb0; C. and that is placed between the first material to be joined and the second material to be joined. The joining is performed by resistance heating and pressing at a pressure of 0.1 to 200 MPa.
