Power supply equipment for a motor vehicle, includes a motor generator, an inverter for driving the motor generator, a battery and a capacitor of an electrical double layer, wherein the capacitor is directly connected to a DC side of the inverter and the battery is connected in parallel with the capacitor via a first switching unit. When an engine is started up, the power stored in the capacitor is used, and the switching units are turned off to separate the battery from the start-up of the engine.

An altitude calculation unit estimates an inclination of a road from vehicle speed and vehicle drive torque, and calculates altitude of a vehicle. A battery management unit calculate difference between average altitude determined from the past altitude history and the present altitude and varies a target value of battery charging rate or upper and lower limit values thereof in response to the difference. Charging and discharging command value is calculated in response to difference between charging rate detection value and the target value or the upper and lower limit values. An integrated control unit sets output share between an engine and a motor based on vehicle target drive torque calculated by a target toque determination unit and charging and discharging command from the battery management unit , determines an optimum operation point of the engine and issues a control command to the engine and the motor. Thereby, even when a travelling route ahead of the vehicle is not set, a possible prevention of regenerative braking due to full charging during downhill rolling is avoided and a fuel economy for a hybrid vehicle is improved in total.

Hybrid vehicle

A hybrid vehicle is disclosed, in which the drive torque is controlled according to a target, and the engine operating point and the battery charging rate are controlled thereby as targeted to improve the fuel consumption rate of the hybrid vehicle as a whole. An engine torque estimating unit estimates the engine torque based on the motor current, and an engine output correction unit calculates a correct value of the throttle opening based on the difference between the estimated value and the target value. The battery management unit , on the other hand, calculates a target battery charge/discharge rate based on the navigation information and the battery charging rate. The engine output correction unit calculates and outputs the correction value of the target battery charge/discharge value based on the difference between the target battery charge/discharge current and the actual current. The corrected target battery charge/discharge value is input to an overall control unit and added to the target engine output value.

The invention provides a power transmission apparatus having a reduced power transmission loss. In the power transmission apparatus, an input shaft side variable pitch circle gear, an output shaft side variable pitch circle gear and a cycloid sliding gear which have a shape accumulated by a cycloid gear in which a pitch circle continuously changes are meshed with each other. The cycloid sliding gear slides and an engagement position thereof changes, thereby changing a radius of an engagement pitch circle of the gear so as to change a shift ratio.

Disclosed is a transmission comprising a first power transfer path for transferring an output of an engine to a vehicle driving shaft through a planetary gear connected to a motor, a second power transfer path for transferring the output of the engine to the vehicle driving shaft through gears and, and a power transfer switch which switches over the first and second power transfer paths from one to the other. In a hybrid vehicle wherein an engine, a motor and a generator are connected to a planetary gear, a follow-up loss caused by the generator is avoided in the case where the engine stops and the vehicle travels with the motor alone. In high-speed running, it is avoided that an electric energy for stopping the rotation of the generator is consumed. Further, torque assist by the generator is not restricted by constraints of the planetary gear.
