A hull behavior control system for controlling behavior of a hull of a marine vessel includes a memory and at least one controller coupled to the memory. The at least one controller is configured or programmed to control a steering that changes the traveling direction of the marine vessel, obtain a water surface shape around the marine vessel, estimate movement of a wave based on the water surface shape, and when it is determined that the hull rides the wave whose movement has been estimated, control the steering so as to reduce an influence of the wave on the hull.

A hull behavior control system includes a memory and at least one controller coupled to the memory. The at least one controller is configured or programmed to control a propulsion force of the marine vessel using a propeller of the marine vessel, obtain a water surface shape around the marine vessel, estimate movement of a wave based on the water surface shape, and reduce the propulsion force by controlling the propeller when it is determined that an impact force equal to or greater than a threshold value will act on the hull after the hull travels over the wave whose movement has been estimated.

A control system includes a base device to be mounted on a mobile object, an aerial vehicle, a cable including a power supply cable for supplying electric power from the mobile object to the aerial vehicle and connecting the base device with the aerial vehicle, and a control device that controls flight of the aerial vehicle. The control device controls the aerial vehicle so that a relative altitude of the aerial vehicle with respect to the mobile object matches a target relative altitude. This control system optimizes an altitude of the aerial vehicle in accordance with the mobile object.

A watercraft has steering force detection sections. Each steering force detection section includes a pressure receiving section. The pressure receiving sections are spaced from each other and are in the vicinity of a steering shaft. A pressing member is coupled to the steering shaft. The pressing member can press on at least one of the pressure receiving sections when the steering handlebars are rotated to a maximum steering angle. A received pressure detection section detects the pressure applied to the pressure receiving section. The pressure receiving section and the received pressure detection section are coaxially mounted in a pressure receiving section casing and a detection section casing. A guide tube can engage the pressure receiving section and the received pressure detection section. The guide tube is formed with ribs and grooves. The pressure receiving section has a pressure receiving member, a bolt, a plain washer, and a spring member.

Steering force detection device for steering handle of vehicle

Steering-force detection sections, including a pressure-receiving section and a received-pressure detection section, are spaced from one another in the vicinity of a steering shaft. The steering shaft can include a pressing member for applying pressure to the pressure-receiving section when steering handlebars are rotated in either direction to the maximum steering angle. The pressure-receiving section and the received-pressure detection section are coaxially mounted in a pressure-receiving section casing and a detection section casing, respectively, through a guide tube, so that the pressure-receiving directions of both the pressure-receiving sections are parallel to one another and perpendicular to the direction in which the steering-force detection sections are spaced. The detection section casing includes mounting openings for mounting the received-pressure detecting sections and an electric circuit board, which is integrally connected to the received-pressure detecting sections. The mounting openings are formed in the same direction as each other and perpendicularly to the pressure-receiving direction of the pressure-receiving section.

A load detector is constructed so as to stabilize an output voltage responding to an input load. The load detector includes a magnetostrictive sensor which includes a hollow case, a coil housed in the case, and a rod-like magnetic member located at an axial center of the coil, magnetized by an electric current flowing through the coil and receiving a load at an end thereof. The load detector further includes a pin which has a contact surface for applying the load onto the end of the magnetic member and is disposed axially inline with the magnetic member, and a bearing collar for reducing displacement of the pin with respect to the magnetic member. The magnetostrictive sensor and the pin are fitted, facing each other, into the bearing collar. The load detector is utilized suitably for transport equipment such as a water vehicle or electric bicycle.

A fuel overflow alarm system sounds a buzzer or other alarm when a fuel level in a fuel tank of a vehicle or other machine approaches an overflow state, thereby alerting a user that fueling should be halted. The device is activated when a fuel cap or fuel cap cover on a filler inlet tube to the fuel tank is opened and is de-activated when the filler inlet tube is closed. Thus, electrical current drawn by the system can be limited to time periods when the fuel tank is being filled, thereby sparing the electrical system of the vehicle or machine from being depleted during periods of non-use.

Fuel overflow alarm system

A watercraft includes a hull construction that incorporates raised aft foot area sections to increase the buoyancy of the watercraft. The watercraft also includes an elongated seat that can be straddled by at least two riders. An aft portion of the seat that extends between the raised aft foot area sections has a narrowed width in comparison to a portion of the seat extending over an engine of the watercraft to improve the comfort of the rider sitting on the aft seat portion. The wider seat portion over the engine accommodates a wider engine to eliminate sharp bends in exhaust and induction pathways and thereby improve engine performance. The watercraft hull also includes an integral boarding aid formed at the aft end of the seat and extending contiguous with a deck platform. The boarding aid includes first and second members that extend toward a stern of the watercraft and are arranged to be grasped by a person, when in the body of water in which the watercraft is operated, with his or her arms spread apart by about shoulder's width. This arrangement aids the person to push down on the aft end of the watercraft and to pull himself or herself onto the deck platform.

Hull for personal watercraft

A watercraft is disclosed including an improved ride plate for enhanced handling, responsiveness and performance of the watercraft. The ride plate preferably has two grooves formed in the undersurface of the ride plate. The grooves are of continuous cross section, extend the entire length of the ride plate and are located behind the water intake duct opening. Finally, the grooves are strategically located to avoid the turbulent water caused by the water entering the water intake opening so as to increase the handling, responsiveness and performance of the watercraft.

A personal watercraft includes an improved hull design which reduces drag on the watercraft and inhibits porpoising of the watercraft at high speeds, while providing adequate buoyancy when the watercraft is at rest. The watercraft hull includes a pair of steppers positioned toward the aft end of the watercraft hull. The rear stepper has a greater height than the front stepper. This design reduces the wetted area of the hull when the watercraft is up on plane. The second stepper, however, provides additional surface contact should the watercraft to porpoise in order to stabilize the watercraft. The hull design also includes improved foot steps and adjustable sponsons. The foot steps are sloped upwardly in order to provide greater control of the watercraft when leaning the watercraft in a turn.

Hull construction for small watercraft

A personal watercraft includes a component arrangement which reduces heat exposure to many critical, heat-sensitive components of the watercraft. The personal watercraft includes a calalyzer within an exhaust system to treat engine exhaust before discharge. The catalyzer operates at a high temperature. Heat-sensitive components of the engine, such as, for example, fuel and coolant supply lines and electrical and mechanical cables, are positioned on a side of a longitudinal center line of the watercraft opposite of the catalyzer. This arrangement reduces the degree of heat exposure experienced by these engine components to improve their function and durability.

Watercraft component layout

A small watercraft includes a hull. A rider area that accommodates at least one rider is provided at least in part by said hull. An engine is carried by the hull and drives a propulsion unit for propelling the hull. A steering control is provided in the rider area for steering the watercraft. A control panel is also provided in the rider area. The control panel includes a plurality of push buttons. A control unit is interrelated with the push buttons and the engine so as to allow the engine to be activated when the buttons are pushed in a predetermined sequence.

Engine start system for a small boat

A small watercraft includes a hull with a deck portion. A longitudinally extending raised pedestal of the deck portion has an upper surface with a front portion and a rear portion. An engine compartment is formed at least in part beneath the front portion of the raised pedestal and contains an engine that drives a propulsion unit for powering the watercraft. An exhaust system communicates with the engine compartment and discharges exhaust gases from the watercraft. An access opening is provided in the front portion of the upper surface of the raised pedestal for allowing access to the engine compartment. A removable front seat member is supported by the front portion of the upper surface of the raised pedestal and covers the access opening. The front seat has front and rear ends. A latching assembly is provided adjacent to the rear end of the front seat member for detachably securing the front seat member to the front portion of the upper surface of the raised pedestal. A removable rear seat member is supported by the rear portion of the upper surface of the raised pedestal directly behind the front seat member. The rear seat member includes front and rear ends. The front end of the rear seat member covers the latching assembly associated with the front seat member so that the latching assembly is not accessible without removing the front seat member. An insert piece is provided near the periphery of the rear portion of the upper surface of the raised pedestal. The insert piece includes a ventilation mechanism that vents air from the engine compartment. A portion of the exhaust system extends at least partially through the access opening and below at least a portion of the front seat portion so as to provide a more ergonomic front seat member.

A number of embodiments of jet propelled watercraft having an improved pedal operated reverse thrust bucket mechanism. The pedal for operating the reverse thrust bucket is positioned so that it is generally flush with the floor area when the reverse thrust bucket is in its forward drive mode and can be depressed into a recessed area of the floor area for effecting trim or reverse thrust operation of the reverse thrust bucket. In this way, the pedal does not obscure the rider's foot area but is still readily accessible for the rider.
