In an anodizing method of aluminum, a tubular object made of aluminum or aluminum alloy is located between a pair of cathodes in an electrolysis solution, and a subsidiary cathode is inserted into the tubular object. The tubular object is anodized in the electrolysis solution to form an anodic oxide coating on an inner surface of the tubular object and on an outer surface of the tubular object. Accordingly, the anodic oxide coating can be formed easily not only on the outer surface of the tubular object but also on the inner surface of the tubular object. Therefore, a thickness difference of the anodic oxide coating between on the outer surface of the tubular object and on the inner surface of the tubular object can be reduced.

[Problem] To provide a plating method and apparatus which do not require preparation of a separate treatment tank for each treatment step and therefore enable the facility to be reduced in size and, further, which can reduce the amounts of use of the treatment solutions. [Solution] A plating apparatus feeding a plating solution to a treatment tank in which an electrode is arranged and plating a workpiece made of a metal so as to perform plating, the plating apparatus characterized by being provided with a plurality of pipes which are connected to an outer wall of the treatment tank and a switch valve which is provided able to rotate at an inner side of the outer wall and which has at least one feed port for making at least one treatment solution feed pipe selected from the plurality of treatment solution feed pipes communicate with the treatment tank.

Plating apparatus and plating method

An EL device includes a control unit that controls a driving circuit so that a plurality of EL elements emits light several times per driving cycle. Specifically, when a driving voltage is applied to the plurality of EL elements, the plurality of EL elements emits several times per driving cycle. As a result, since the amount of light integrated per time increases, the plurality of EL elements obtains high luminous power even if a plurality of El elements having a very short emission decay time is used.

Electroluminescent device with sufficient luminous power and driving method thereof

An EL display in which expansion of dielectric breakdown occurring at any one of EL elements is inhibited. Scan electrodes are arranged to receive an offset voltage Vm at those instances other than during application of a scanning voltage thereto in a positive field, while a predetermined voltage is applied to data electrodes to prevent voltage from being applied to EL elements immediately after application of the scan voltage. Accordingly, even where dielectric breakdown occurs at any one of the EL elements due to application of a light emission driving pulse voltage, it is possible to inhibit current flow between the scan electrodes and the data electrodes to thereby inhibit further subsequent dielectric breakdown.

An electroluminescent display panel which is able to selectively display different colors by changing a voltage level imposed thereon is made in a simple structure. A first luminescent layer (4) emitting green light, for example, and a second luminescent layer (5) emitting orange light, for example, are directly laminated on each other without interposing an intermediate electrode therebetween. The second luminescent layer covers only a part of the first luminescent layer to form a single layer portion and a double layer portion. The single layer portion emits green light at a low voltage level, while the double layer portion emits lemon light having a higher luminance at a high voltage level. The display may be made in a form of a matrix or a certain pattern. The display panel may be used as an instrument panel for an automobile. The green light display is used at night time, while the lemon light display with a high luminance is used at day time to cope with sun light.

Multi-color electroluminescent display panel

A thin-film electroluminescent device includes dielectric layers having improved dielectric characteristics. The device is fabricated by forming a first transparent electrode layer of ITO, a first dielectric layer, a luminescent layer, a second dielectric layer, and a second transparent electrode layer of ITO in this order on an insulating substrate. Each of the two dielectric layers is a film constituted by TaSnON. That is, the film includes tantalum, tin, oxygen, and nitrogen.

Dielectric thin film and thin-film EL device using same

A transparent thin-film EL display apparatus has a transparent thin-film EL element formed on a glass substrate. A rear substrate consisting of photochromic glass and the glass substrate on which the EL element is formed are disposed facing each other with the EL element located in between. A light-transmitting insulation material is inserted in a space between the two substrates and hermetically sealed. When the display on the EL element becomes hard to see due to light entering from the rear of the display apparatus, the photochromic glass reacts in response to the light and darkens the rear of the EL element, thereby blocking the light. Accordingly, normally the display apparatus displays various items of information through the front substrate and ensures visibility of the background through the display apparatus, and when high-intensity external light enters through the rear, the display apparatus reacts and blocks this light by means of a light shutter function, thereby enabling reliable display of the information without impairment of display contrast, thus guaranteeing a stable and highly reliable display.
