A coated tool of the present invention includes a base material; and a hard coating film on the base material. The hard coating film is a nitride or carbonitride which contains aluminum (Al) of 65 atomic % or more and 90 atomic % or less and titanium (Ti) of 10 atomic % or more and 35 atomic % or less with respect to a total amount of metal (including metalloid) elements, and have a face-centered cubic structure. In the X-ray intensity distribution of the α axis of the positive pole figure with respect to the (111) plane of the face-centered cubic structure, the hard coating film have a maximum intensity Ia in the α angle range of 80° to 90° and an intensity in the α angle range of 0° to 70° is 30% or less of the Ia.

Coated tool

A coated tool of the present invention includes a substrate and a hard coating on the substrate. The hard coating is a nitride or a carbonitride containing 65 atom % or more and 90 atom % or less of Al and 10 atom % or more and 35 atom % or less of Cr with respect to a total amount of metal elements including metalloid elements, and containing 0.50 atom % or less of argon (Ar), and has a face-centered cubic lattice structure. The hard coating shows a maximum intensity Ia in an α angle range of 80° to 90° in an X-ray intensity distribution on an α-axis in a positive pole figure of a () plane of the face-centered cubic lattice structure, and an intensity in an α angle range of 0° to 70° is 35% or less of the maximum intensity Ia.

A coated cutting tool has a hard coating on a surface of a base material. The hard coating is a nitride of Al, Cr, and Si in which Al is 50 atom % or more, Cr is 30 atom % or more, and Si is 1 atom % or more and 5 atom % or less. The hard coating contains 0.02 atom % or less of Ar, and the atomic ratio A and the atomic ratio B of nitrogen satisfy the relationship of 1.02≤B/A≤1.10, and a diffraction peak originating from the (111) plane of a face-centered cubic lattice structure shows the maximum intensity. In the cross-sectional observation of the hard coating, the number of droplets having an equivalent circle diameter of 3 μm or more is less than 1 per 100 μm. The surface of the hard coating has an arithmetical mean curvature Spc value of 5000 or less.

Coated cutting tool

Provided is a coated cutting tool in which a surface of a substrate is coated with a hard coating film. The hard coating film includes: a layer (A) disposed on the surface of the substrate, and having a face-centered cubic lattice structure, in which the total content ratio of W and Ti is at least 85 atomic %, and which contains W as the most abundant element and Ti as the next most abundant element among metal (including metalloid) elements; and a layer (B) disposed on the layer (A) and having a face-centered cubic lattice structure, which is composed of nitrides or carbonitrides containing Al, Cr, and Si, and in which, among metal (including metalloid) elements, the Al content ratio is at least 50 atomic %, the total content ratio of Al and Cr is at least 85 atomic %, and the Si content ratio is 4 to 15 atomic %.

The present invention discloses a coated cutting tool having a hard coating film on a surface of the tool. The hard coating film is a nitride, the content ratio of titanium (Ti) with respect to a total amount of metal elements (including semimetal elements) is in a range of 70 at % to 95 at %, the content ratio of silicon (Si) with respect to the total amount of metal elements (including semimetal elements) is in a range of 5 at % to 30 at %, and the content ratio of argon (Ar) with respect to the total amount of metal elements (including semimetal elements) and non-metal elements is 0.1 at % or less. The hard coating film has a NaCl type crystal structure and has an average crystal grain size in a range of 5 nm to 30 nm.

Provided is a coated cutting tool that has a nitride hard coating that contains Ti at 70 at % to 95 at % and Si at 5 at % to 30 at % with respect to the total amount of metallic elements, and Ar at 0.05 at % to 0.20 at % with respect to the total amount of metallic and non-metallic elements, has a NaCl-type crystalline structure, exhibits maximum diffraction peak intensity in the (200) plane, and has an average grain size of 5 nm to 30 nm. When 100 at % is defined as the total of content rates of the metallic elements, nitrogen, oxygen, and carbon in a composition at intervals of 20 nm from a depth of 20 nm to 200 nm from a surface of the hard coating, the content rate of nitrogen is 50.0 at % or more.

Small-diameter drill and small-diameter drill manufacturing method

A hard coating film of a coated cutting tool contains Al within a range of 70 at % to 80 at % and Ti within a range of 20 at % to 30 at % with respect to a total amount of metallic (including metalloid) elements, and contains Ar of 0.50 at % or less with respect to a total amount of the metallic elements (including metalloid) and nonmetallic elements. The film has a diffraction peak due to each of a TiN (111) plane, a TiN (200) plane, and a TiN (220) plane of an fcc structure and an AlN (100) plane and an AlN (002) plane of a hcp structure, in which the diffraction peak of the TiN (200) plane indicates a maximum intensity and an intensity of the diffraction peak due to the TiN (111) plane is next thereafter. The average crystal grain size is within a range of 5 nm to 50 nm.

A method for producing a tool coated with a hard coating, the method including the following steps: applying a TiAIN coating layer onto a substrate with a first magnetron sputtering process and applying a TiSiN coating layer onto the TiAIN layer with a second magnetron sputtering process, where x is smaller than or equal to 0.85 and preferably between and including 0.80 and 0.70 whereas the second magnetron sputtering process is performed with power densities greater than 100 W/cmand as such is a HIPIMS process.

Method for producing a double-layer coated cutting tool with improved wear resistance

An embodiment of the invention provides a coated cutting tool having a base material and a hard coating, in which: the hard coating is formed from a nitride or a carbonitride having an Al content of from 50 at. % to 68 at. %, a Cr content of from 20 at. % to 46 at. %, and an Si content of from 4 at. % to 15 at. %, relative to the total amount of metal (including semimetal) elements, and when the total of metal (including semimetal) elements, nitrogen, oxygen, and carbon is designated as 100 at. %, the atomic percentage (at. %) A of metal (including semimetal) elements and the atomic percentage (at. %) B of nitrogen satisfy the relationship 1.03&#x2264;B/A&#x2264;1.07; and, in an intensity profile obtained from an X-ray diffraction pattern or a selected area diffraction pattern of a transmission electron microscope, an intensity of a peak from the (200) plane or the (111) plane of a face-centered cubic lattice structure exhibits the maximum intensity.
