To provide a personal authentication system that enables a client to receive services even if he fails to carry his card or the like with him or loses it, thus preventing the abuse of the card or the like by a third person and the leakage of the personal information. When data identifying a client are transferred to an authentication server using an authentication terminal, the authentication server collates the sent data against personal authentication data registered previously in a database to identify the client and sends the results of the identification to the authentication terminal. After the authentication, when the authentication terminal requests the payment of charges from a settling account registered previously in the database, the read and modification of personal data, or the like, the authentication server executes a process based on the sent request.

An electrostatic ink jet recorder of the type controlling charged toner particles contained in ink by using electrophoresis is disclosed. An ink jet recording device comprises a recording head for ejecting pigmented ink in an ink chamber, an ink reservoir for circulating the pigmented ink between the ink chamber and the ink reservoir, and a replenishment tank for replenishing concentrated pigmented ink to the ink reservoir. The replenishment of the concentrated pigmented ink is effected by a piezoelectric element for reducing the volume of the replenishment tank upon receiving a driving signal. The concentration of colored particles in the concentrated pigmented ink is equal to the concentration of the colored particles in the ink droplet ejected from the ink chamber.

A precision ejection ink-jet printing apparatus to prevent self-ejection. Self-ejection is an ejection of coloring agent particles from an ink-ejection opening without an application of ejection voltage to an ejection electrode. The precision ejection ink-jet printing apparatus includes an ink chamber filled with a pigment type ink, an electrophoretic electrode for causing coloring agent particles in the pigment type ink to concentrate at ink ejection openings, a plurality of ejection electrodes for causing ejection of the coloring agent particles concentrated at the ink ejection openings toward a printing medium, and voltage controller for controlling a voltage to be applied to the electrophoretic electrode. The voltage controller gradually increases the applied voltage up to a predetermined target voltage. The gradual increase in voltage moderates the electrophoretic motion of the coloring agent particles, preventing self-ejection.

The present invention provides a photosensitive body and an electrophotographic printer capable of notifying an operating whether a protection film 15 is correctly peeled off from a photosensitive surface 1a of the photosensitive body. The protection film 15 has marks 15a and 15b to be automatically detected. The electrophotographic printer 100 comprises a peel member 13, a guide route for guiding the peeled off protection film out of the printer, a magnetic sensor 14 for detecting the marks 15a and 15b, and a control circuit 17 for deciding according to an output of the magnetic sensor whether the protection film is correctly peeled off and outputting the decision result through a liquid crystal display panel 19. This enables an operator to know about the peeling state.

Photosensitive body and electrophotographic printer using the same

An electrostatic ink jet printing head includes a head block made of insulating material having a first surface and a second surface which are intercrossing substantially at a right angle. A plurality of ink channel grooves are formed on the first surface and the second surface in directions perpendicular to a ridge between the two surfaces. A plurality of recording electrodes are formed on convexities between the ink channel grooves and near ejection points located on the ridge. A cover is attached to the head block for covering the ink channel grooves and exposing the ejection points to the air. Ink is forcibly circulated by a forcible ink circulation means such as a pump. The recording electrodes are formed in the lower reaches of the ink stream compared to the ejection points, and a plurality of electrophoresis electrodes are formed in the ink channel grooves in the upper reaches of the ink stream compared to the ejection points. According to the electrostatic ink jet printing head, excessively higher concentration of the toner particles at the ejection points is prevented and stable ejection of the ink from each ejection point can be executed independently of history of ejection of each recording electrode, and stable ejection of the ink from definite and precise ejection points can be executed, thereby high precision clear printing is realized with a simple structure of the head and at a low cost.

A recording device enables the tension state of an endless belt type photographic body to be adjusted so as to maintain a proper tension, including adjusting for, changes of belt length caused by the change of temperature and humidity or the change with time of employment surroundings, and also adjusting for the change of belt tension entailed by load variation on operation of the device or eccentricity of the driving roller. The recording device is provided with a driving roller, driven rollers, and the endless belt type photographic body which is wound around the driving roller, and the driven rollers, the driving roller driving the driven rollers. The recording device is also provided with a sensor for detecting the tension of the endless belt type photographic body, and a movement mechanism for moving at least one of the driving roller and the driven rollers based on a detection signal of the sensor.

Recording device

The electrostatic ink-jet recording head according to the present invention comprises: recording electrodes which eject ink towards the recording paper; an opposing electrode for generating a prescribed electric field between the recording electrodes and the opposing electrode; and ink discharge end sections formed in the vicinity of the recording electrodes. The ink discharge end sections are formed closer to the opposing electrode than the end portions of the recording electrodes. In this case, the equipotential lines in the region of the ink discharge end sections when a recording voltage is applied are virtually perpendicular to the direction in which the ink is discharged. This is because, the recording electrodes are positioned slightly behind the ink discharge end sections in the ink discharge member. In this case, an electrostatic force acts on the toner particles near the ink discharge end sections in the direction of the ink discharge end sections. Therefore, even when a recording voltage is applied, there is a continuous supply of toner particles to the ink discharge end sections. As described above, in the electrostatic ink-jet recording head according to the present embodiment, a convex ink meniscus is formed in front of the recording electrodes. Therefore, toner particles gather at the discharge points, even when a recording voltage is applied, and thus a sufficient quantity of toner particles for forming a desired dot size can be supplied.

Electrostatic ink-jet recording head

A capacitance is detected between an ejecting electrode and an opposite electrode by a capacitance detecting circuit with a recording medium placed on the opposite electrode. An electric field strength in the ejecting electrode is calculated by a gap adjustment control circuit based upon the detected capacitance. A motor driving circuit is controlled so that the electric field strength is set to a preset value. A lead screw coupled to the ejecting electrode is rotated by a motor and a gap between the ejecting electrode and the opposite electrode is thereby adjusted. Even if the thickness of a used recording medium changes, the ejecting electric field strength is kept stable and the recording quality is stabilized.

A photoreceptor belt for use in a recording device using a electrophotographic technique comprises a lead tape having a free tip and a trailing edge attached to a protective film covering a photoreceptor layer formed on an endless belt base. When a new photoreceptor belt is installed in a recording device, the tip of the lead tape and the following protective film is removed from the photoreceptor belt by a lead tape guide, thereby avoiding a damage of the photoreceptor layer by the operator.
